Long story short - some days working from home and listening to records is a bit lonely. I can't people watch when I look up from my notebook between thoughts. It saves me money, I guess. And coffee hang businesses fail.

"People Watch Records." That's the name.

I so do love my records.
I mean.... wouldn't you want to work on your latest short story while this was softly playing? Reminds me I haven't ordered anything from Mr. Bongo in forever. open.spotify.com/track/6sVm6i...

I would also, and I apologize but this is for me and it's my place, have a sign up that says "Coldplay-free zone". I get it. You love Coldplay and I won't fault you for that, but I have a visceral reaction to them and must leave any room I'm in when it begins to play.
There would be a Now Spinning stand, so you can see, but also have the next records in the queue lined up so you can decide if you want to leave or stay. There would be a sign up that says 'No skips. Don't ask." All records would be played top to bottom, in side order.
Been trying to find a pressing of this Donny Hathaway record but just saying, this would be the vibe. Some days.... music.apple.com/us/album/the...

That only plays... my vinyl. lol. I saw a story on Japanese 'listening' bars and didn't read it, and that is essentially what they are. You go there to drink booze and listen but I want it to be coffee and people writing. And me, writing. Listening to my own records in public. Investors! At me!
I see the record store part as being like a little alcove. Used records only. In fact... I might ditch that. I guess what I'm thinking of is a cafe for writers that only plays vinyl. (I saw a story on Japanese Vinyl bars).
There would be a turntable and I would control the records that spinning. I would set the vibe. But you could write there, and meet about your zine project and give each other moral support and eat pastries and have good coffee and artists can show their work there and there'd be poetry slams...
It's the kind of day when I almost type in a search for 'cost to start your own record store/coffee shop/writer/artist hangout' but don't trust the AI results to not give me some kind of false hope.
Just realized thanks to a Facebook memory. Yesterday marks 5 years no booze.
“I am not a brand. I am a body of work.” When things don't hit and I feel low about it, I repeat this phrase to keep on going. Take a listen. (If you wanna skip the part-therapy, part talking to myself pre-amble, the post reading starts at 11 minute 18 seconds.) www.buzzsprout.com/2194216/epis...

Every couple of days I get an email from Covered CA about my upcoming health insurance changes which basically says: "Just a reminder: You're fucked."
These live frogs are making my morning fly. 🐸

I have this on my cork board for times such as this. Here's a pep talk from @gregproops.bsky.social I mean, I'm not really in the fucking mood right now, GREG, but... ok. What choice do I got but now.
I must've been feeling like I have been the last couple of days (a bit of a 'what's the point?' vibe going on) two years ago when I wrote the Resurrector's Oath. Inspired by that quote. Reposting for today's pep talk.
