It is easy to focus on the big things like kangaroos and emus, but Australia has some very cute small creatures as well. Here is the yellow rumped thornbill. #birdlife #fauna #Australia

Crookwell NSW was a very early colonial settlement with the first European arrivals in the 1820s. This makes it quite old by Australian standards. Australia's indigenous people had already been here for 40 000 plus years when Europeans turned up. #australia

Nearly every Australian community has a war memorial of some sort. Here are two, Gundagai NSW, on the left, and Crookwell NSW on the right. These places do not glorify war. They commemorate those who served. #warmemorials #australia

Gundagai, NSW, Australia. An old town by Australian standards, now bypassed by a modern highway and with its local rail links gone, it is a quiet stopover. It is immortalised in a poem about a faithful dog. #australia

Paddy's River Falls, NSW, Australia. Which do you prefer? The captured instant, or the long exposure? In this setting, I think the frozen moment in time is better than the long exposure. Feel free to comment. #waterfalls #landscape #longexposure #australia
