You’re right and if that was how I came off I sincerely apologize. It pains me to see so much harm in the world that, too often, if even indirectly, is tied to or supported by religion. As someone on the sidelines of these atrocities it’s heartbreaking.

And yes Bill Maher is a troubling character. Of course I agree with a lot he has to say, but lately I can’t really stand him. He’s so smug and self righteous it’s hard to stomach. So we can agree on that.

Point taken and I appreciate you taking time to call out my mistakes honestly and without name calling. I would only say that your use of “Athiests” as a single membership of every non religious person in the world is off putting. No different than any other wide brush statement that is troubling.

I understand your sentiments completely and pretty much agree with everything you’ve stated. I’ve always said that I’m not an Atheist but society would label me so. I’m often envious of the community it offers and realize it’s baked into the human psyche and does a lot for many people.

I’m not digging holes. I’m simply saying that the non-religious population is not the primary cause of harm. You can disagree of course.

I can’t comment on that but I’m not suppressed. Of course there’s always an anecdote or an outlier to any scenario. If anything those individuals are typically pretty damn arrogant and would likely be a terrible people to spend any time with.

I can only speak for myself, being furthest from that. Most fascists I seem to encounter are far right Christians.

True, not all Atheists self identify as such. It’s what society labels them.

Maybe. But behind the annoyance of the atheist there is typically much less bigotry, authoritarian tendencies, tax evasion, science denialism, closeted sexuality, etc.

It’s good to see these guys speak some truth. Not sure if Tim was ever full MAGA but he helped certainly helped prop up that narrative over the years along with Theo and Joe.
