After 2 days hard birding I eventually managed to see the Mourning Dove on St Agnes, Isles of Scilly, this afternoon. A great bird - 7th for GB and 1st for Scilly & England

Nice Grey Phal at Rutland Water this lunchtime. Showed well near the shoreline at the north end of the dam. @rarebirder.bsky.social

So, so dry at @rspbframptonmarsh.bsky.social today. Combination of drought + broken pump. Hardwork birding as a result. #lincsbirding

LRWT’s Merry’s Meadow, just a mile from the busy A1, was a peaceful oasis (without the water!!) with wall to wall Black Knapweed this afternoon and sooo many butterflies, including Marbled Whites.

The buttercup meadows LRWT Egleton Reserve are looking super. The recent rains have really perked things up.

Another day volunteering at NOA’s Holme Bird Observatory. Few birds (due to the wind direction) meant I spent the day cleaning the 6 bird hides - spider webs duly banished! @norfolknats.bsky.social

The saltmarsh at Kilchoan, Ardnamurchan, held 5 whimbrel & 4 shelduck as well as usual curlew & oystercatchers at high tide this evening. No sign of yesterday’s small flock of ringed plover.

Another glorious day’s birding on Ardnamurchan, this time up on the north coast. Golden Eagles soaring, snipe drumming, finches galore - green-, gold-, chaff-, linnet, twite, Siskin, plus cuckoo and so many wheatears. #HighlandBirds

What a cracking day to be birding the hills of Ardnamurchan in search of Ring Ouzel #BirdingScotland

A lovely evening across Kilchoan’s salt marsh, a rare habitat on Ardnamurchan. Today’s waders included Whimbrel, Curlew, Dunlin, Red-& Greenshank, Ringed Plover & Oyks.

We’ve at least helped the situation a little bit by removing this fully rammed carrier bag of plastic waste …but there are still tons out there needing to be collected.

I’m totally shocked & embarrassed at the amount of plastic waste on this remote west Highland beach where, just 100m away, 50+ Common Seals bask on their rocky islet.

Imm Glaucous Gull off Gore Point, Old Hunstanton, this afternoon plus a flurry of Snow Buntings against the dunes. Couldn’t locate the Shore Larks.
