Although I can’t speak fluent Spanish, I will be unapologetically Hispanic with my food, my love for music, and enjoying life.

I think what’s really beautiful about Puerto Rico is that we come in so many shades like the rainbow. You can look like me with brown hair, pale skin, and green eyes or caramel skin with brown eyes or dark skin with curly hair and we’re all the same.

As I grow older, I cherish every moment I have with my family. A sad voice in the back of my head reminds me that time is precious and we must cherish every moment we have above ground. No matter how mundane life may be, it’s the only life we get to experience.

Also update from yesterday: I was able to hold an entire conversation in Spanish with my Spanish speaking Abuelita. 🥰 a huge accomplishment for me. And then I visited my other grandparents and was gifted with many plants and trees. And so much good food.
