Lane Kim is one of the best characters on the show and I will stand on this hill and fight you on that point, if I have to. Oh, no one wants to fight me? We all agree that Lane Kim is often the best part of any scene she’s in and that her story of finding and building her own life, her own love and joy, away from the restrictions of her childhood far from falling short of what it could have been actually holds up even in the horror that was ‘A Year in a Life’?

The Man, the Myth, the Legend. A Good Father? Debate able to the extreme. A Good Grandfather? Heck yes. This man, more than any other man in her life forged Rory Gilmore into the woman she is today. Sookie St. James Truth time, I first encountered the talented Melissa McCarthy on a little show called Mike & Molly - so you can imagine both my surprise and delight in finding her face amongst the residents of Stars Hollow. However my fondness for Ms. St. James goes beyond merely her actress - whether she’s terrorising her kitchen staff with her accident prone ways, falling in love with the most repugnant man in a town that includes Taylor, or repeatedly getting pregnant Ms St.

Paris Geller Okay, I’ll say it now - Paris was better than Rory. In every way - yes she was a bit of a controlling bitch but so was Rory. At least the narrative never tried to pretend that she was something she wasn’t. We were shown Paris at her worst, whether she was running the Yale paper into the ground or trying to sabotage her rival at Chilton and yet we still loved her because she was never anything but herself.

I think that title is probably going to be more interesting than anything in the post but who cares - onwards wee readers, onwards! Emily Gilmore Well, it’s quite the journey going from one of the most despicable of the Gilmore Clan - to well, at the very least the one with best ending. Don’t get me wrong I liked Lorelai’s ending too but it did feel a bit like she was just running in place until her creators got to put it on the screen.

I think maybe that goes without saying for most people after A Year in the Life - but I would just like to say that I thought she was terrible long before the world stopped bending over backwards to give her an easy ride.
