What we’re up to in the next few weeks. We meet this coming Saturday! Also, all women are invited to Ntosake on Nov 11, and everyone is invited to MCU’s gala on Nov 13! Please let us know if you’ll be attending!
What’s up in the next couple weeks! How can we pray for and with you? And what is God calling you to, and how can we partner with you to make that happen?
Hi all! A lot going on in the next couple weeks. Also wanted to make sure you know that if you’re against gerrymandering, you can sign up for training for the next few Saturdays (including tomorrow!) to collect petition signatures. Hope to see you there! Also, how can we pray for and with you?
What we’re up to in the next couple weeks. How can we pray for and with you? Also, in terms of actions, there are some important petitions being circulated for you to sign and/or collect signatures for!
So about those biblical texts that Paul supposedly wrote that are against women in church and other leadership…it matters who’s speaking/writing, their perspective, and their context. The Bible and our interactions with it become so much more rich when we don’t need them to fit into little boxes!
What we’re up to in the next couple weeks. In our daily Bible reading, 1st and 2nd Timothy give us an opportunity to think about letters written in Paul’s name but not by him and what that means for our faith. Also, how can we pray for and with you this week?

There’s been a lot going on recently, not only for TPA, but also in our broader community, state, and world at large. In the midst of it all, we know we can call on God and each other. How can we pray for and with you this week?
Sometimes we’ve heard about power as a bad thing (and we’ve seen many instances of power being used in the service of Empire). Richard Rohr talks about what happens when we see power as a gift from God:

We’re reading through more of the Pauline/deutero-Pauline letters next week and will be using our voices with many other people to let #MOLEG know that legislators should represent us, not cherry-pick us to represent their interests and ideologies! Join us at MCU on Tues and the MO Capitol on Wed!
A lot going on next week! If you’re not okay with Gov Kehoe’s plan to illegally gerrymander Missouri, please come to the MCU meeting on Tues the 8th at 6:30 and come to the Capitol with us on Wed the 9th at noon to make your voice heard! And gather with us on Sat the 13th to be in community!
This week into next at TPA. There is some heavy stuff going on with gerrymandering. While Jesus was political (not partisan) and regularly stood up for humanity, especially the marginalized, which set him against the Roman Empire. We, too, must stand against Empire for the love of God and humanity!
What’s coming up! This Friday at 5:30pm: the redistricting that’s currently being called for is unconstitutional and authoritarian, and we must do what we can to prevent it from happening. And the next day, the 23rd at 12:30, join us at our gathering as we remind ourselves why we work for justice!
The next couple weeks at TPA. About Ntosake: if you’re a StL-area woman community changemaker, this is a great group of women to connect with! Also, if you’re not happy with the direction the nation is going in, it’s imperative that you find a justice community - MCU is a great one to be a part of!
What we're up to this week and next. Bookmark the MCU Events & Actions page to stay up-to-date on our justice work with MCU - there are always new things being added! mcustlouis.org/mcu-actions-... #YesOnProp24
It’s St. Mary Magdalene’s feast day. In honor of that, here’s an amazing sermon about her by Diana Butler Bass. Mary the Tower!

What’s going on at TPA this week? Plenty of opportunities to do justice with MCU’s Prop 24/TDD campaign in terms of canvassing and phone banking - please let Rev. Rebecca know if you’re interested, then we have our regular gathering on Saturday, 12:30
Wow, it’s been a week with the Disciples’ General Assembly, and we’re finishing out with TDD canvassing and phone banking (tonight, 5pm, at Beyond Housing!). I remember feeling bored in the summer. Also FYI: keep up with MCU on social media or check www.mcustlouis.org/mcu-actions-...
Fr. Richard Rohr has some thoughts to consider on #LiberationTheology. You know, if I’d encountered liberation theologies (including feminist, womanist, Black, mujerista, minjung, and Dalit theologies) when growing up, maybe I wouldn’t have left the church a couple times. 🤷‍♀️ cac.org/daily-medita...
May your Pride Sunday be blessed! We’re here at #PrideFestStL near Marker and 14th - come by, say hi, grab a fan, button, bookmark, and paint a prayer rock! #ImagoDEI!!!
You know, it may be summer, but there’s still plenty going on! Here’s what we’re up to! Daily #Bible reading (of course!), canvassing and a Town Hall meeting with #MCU and #BeyondHousing, our regular gathering, #Ntosake, and #PrideFestStL! Hope to see you soon!

Harriet Tubman #quilt by my Mom, Vera P. Hall, who makes quilts celebrating Black people who fought for their own freedom. This seems to be the crowd favorite of the “We Didn’t Wait for Freedom” series. Happy #Juneteenth #quilting
And womanist theology, which is theology done by and that is attentive to the particular needs of Black women and is ultimately focused on the dignity and liberation of all humanity: www.saet.ac.uk/Christianity...
May our Juneteenth help us to embrace true freedom and liberation for all, and as part of that, may we better hear the voices of Black people speaking up for what beloved community, and may we all more robustly act to implement what we’re hearing! religionnews.com/2025/06/18/j...
