It's been very cool to see so much Star Wars: The Old Republic activity on Bluesky! I am the creator of the blog "This Week in Aurebesh" and for nine years I've been translating the alien languages of the game and discussing topics related to SWTOR and Star Wars in general. Here are a few favorites.
An aurebesh from Star Wars: The Old Republic text sign, featuring a large credit symbol and a droid icon, for the "Coruscant Marketplace" and my recreation translated into english. An Aurebesh text sign from Star Wars: The Old Republic reading "Defend the Republic" and featuring the starbird logo of the Old Republic alongside my English language recreation of the sign. My English recreation of a neon sign from Star Wars: The Old Republic above the original version seen in the game which reads "Good Eats" in the Sith Prophesy typeface.

Thank you for the comprehensive look at this tangled and complicated topic!

I've always thought that Z0-0M should be able to use any companion customization.

You have got to admit, their Halloween costumes are GREAT this year!

I hadn't planned to celebrate the 9th anniversary of This Week in Aurebesh with a post about Electronic Arts, but here we are. I don't know how this all will affect #SWTOR, but I do lament the human cost these deals take on the people who make the games we love.

This Week in Aurebesh presents Pets of the Old Republic #19: The Nefarious Blurrg! Despite (or perhaps because of) its ridiculous appearance and name, the Blurrg has made its mark on very nearly every era of Star Wars lore. It's also one my favorite #SWTOR pets!

It’s official: EA is going private.

The leveraged buyout will be financed by a staggering $20 billion of debt, which likely means some *aggressive* cost cutting is ahead for EA in the coming months and years.

As part of the research for my next Pet of the Old Republic, I had to dig this big boss of a book out of the back of my closet. Not everything #StarWars is on the internet it seems!
The massive "Star Wars Chronicles" reference book, excavated from my dark, dusty library by a bunch of this year's Star Wars Black Series figures.

It's been a little while since I put on my #SWTOR elder hat, but today I thought it would be fun to share some stories of yore with y'all:

Maybe it was Commando then? Funny that part of the challenge of healing then was simply not having a full toolkit.

I remember Vanguards and Powertechs didn't have an interrupt for the longest time.

Eternity Vault at 50 was tricky because the fall dmg during Soa because there were 3 AOE heals in #SWTOR at the time. When reaching a pause on the platforms, one pug started yelling "Heal! HEAL! HEEEAL!" I said "Dude, my AOE heal has a cast time." He says "It's instant on my Scoundrel." My reaction:
"Yeah, that's Amazing." Ramona Flowers is definitely a sage healer.

I’m curious to know the analytics of which flashpoints are most commonly deselected in the queue.

It's also pretty good for Star Fleet officers! #SWTOR
Beckett Mariner may have fallen through a subspace rift into an alternate reality. Boimler is just out of frame, screaming.

This time around I think I prefer the basic version of the blasters that we get on the first half of the track to the shinier versions that come later.

I used to attempt to capture screenshots of the pets on location, but getting tiny critters to stand still in game is nearly as difficult as it is in real life. Instead I created a "photobooth" in my stronghold so that I can collect reference material in a controlled environment. 3/3
A screenshot from Star Wars: The Old Republic showing the decorations I placed to make a"photobooth" for capturing reference material for my Pets portrait project.

I have not drawn many landscapes in my life, so creating the backgrounds has been a new and fun challenge. They are mostly based on real locations in SWTOR and it's been helpful to use the game's beautiful environments as inspiration. I've kept them abstract mostly to hide my inexperience. /2

I was recently asked about my process in creating these illustrations. I start with an outline of the pet based on references from #SWTOR, and then build up the shading, shapes and textures of the creature, while I try to keep the references, I try to add my own flourishes to each illustration. 🧵
An array of 4 images of my illustration of a Nexu pet from Star Wars: The Old Republic showing the process of its creation from flat shapes to rough shading and coloring to detailed textures and final background.
