Little did I know when handing my 2DS with the Hatsune Miku rhythm game on it to my 4 year old kid that she would still be periodically playing that game 9 years later and using it to save her song ideas. Well-designed games surely are a treasure. The Switch version is apparently not as fun.

If anyone is homeless or in prison, you do not have a "strong floor," period. If you support the state violently preventing rich people's second homes from being squatted, your agenda is not that of abundance but of squandering stolen land with urban sprawl.

Me most of the time: Like, philosophically I'm an anarchist, but I never really kicked my habit of engaging in electoral politics and scheming of ways to nudge bad people, like politicians and fortune 500 ceos, into being less bad. Sometimes you gotta get your hands dirty.

I never paid attention to the commentary about Midsommar but me and my wife watched it last night and... white supremacism being a death cult is laid on pretty thick yet the wikipedia article mentions this in only one sentence.

If you found early pictureplane's singing style off-putting (I didn't, but it wasn't my favorite either) note that on his latest release, he's embraced the lower end of his register.

Seeing one terf get fired from a paper reminds me how maddeningly small the actual core of the anti-trans hate movement is. As bigoted as the general population tends to be, most aren't willing to make personal sacrifices to that end.

There's just a fundamental asymmetry against the hate groups […]

Wild rice (not a rice, but a different, darker grain native to N. America) has such an enchanting aroma. I seldom get it because it's expensive though. At least anywhere I've lived in America, you can get it by itself or as part of mixes where it's mixed with long grain rice. The flavor mixes […]

I don’t know the merits of the brain entering a “new stage” when you hit 30. Just the ecosystem of bad science communication means that every finding, valid or not, risks becoming a monster, stripped of all caveats and proper context. The “your brain isn’t done developing until 25” factoid has […]
