Is it old school to still hand paint your textures?

I see more and more texture creation tooling being used. Don't get me wrong I love substance and all, but my default is to jump straight to painting.

I cannot recommend this book enough. Imagine mixing Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy with Diablo, DnD and Futurama.

It's absolutely pure joy.
