this just in: im an abusive gamedev for (checks notes) making you feel things
negative steam review:
Scripted death right in the beginning of the game, no way to avoid, no way to remove the 'achievement' stain from your play history when it happens

And the game dev and their crony community call this 'a pivotal part of gameplay mechanics' and not what it actually is, a direct, coded betrayal of player trust.

Why should I bother investing any further time in this title when the dev just seems comfortable arbitrarily killing you whenever with no recourse to fit their childish metaexamination of savegame mechanics? Life is too short to be a script kiddie's emotional punching bag.

Even worse I have no idea how many more 'omg you died teehee' little moments and 'achievements' they've created to litter my profile with unerasable proof of failure.

But since the art is pretty and it's about friends, everyone will just ignore how emotionally abusive insertdisc5 is and how casually they just dismiss all criticism

Last and most bitter to me, the game is paced that you don't get the gutpunch till JUUUUST after the refund window. I kind of feel that was deliberate on the dev's part to even more severely punish people like me who don't enjoy being railroaded into character death.

Toby Fox did the same motherloving thing with their ;uwu omg toriel scripted crit,; and the community defended his abusive actions then just as I expect insertdisc5's will do here.

I am so motherloving tired of indie game devs being emotionally abusive and calling it cheeky fun
(also also Deltarune is so good y'all like friend and I have spent hours talking theories)
A good friend just DMed me to ask if I heard the track in Deltarune ch4 with the weird time signature and I just cracked up laughing.

(This has become far too inside-baseball to explain, but I hope some of y'all got it.)

(Also I'm playing chapter 4 today so hopefully I'll hear it soon.)
As a fun little birthday activity, reply with a song you've made and we'll scope it out and share with folks! We love hearing y'all be creative and it's the perfect birthday treat. 💙👍
This music is fun and adorable and y'all should give this a peep.
btw i make music! if you didn't know somehow?? i think i've talked about it a bunch

you can find it basically anywhere, and i'm always scheming up more stuff to make.

Today (23 June) is Lindar's birthday!

Help us celebrate by listening to our music, especially our latest release, DOOMTROID!

💙BIRTH!!!💙
Feeling under the weather, so today's stream will be rescheduled.
Oh hey Happy Pride, y'all!
Support queer artists!
(It us. Support us.)

Remember, listening to music by queer artists can in fact turn you gay, and if you play our music backwards you'll hear a lovely recipe for vegan chili.
Going to start doing weekly Twitch streams on Wednesdays starting at 6pm Pacific. We're going to be talking about sound design, music theory, and plenty of other silly things!
Trying to save up for some new equipment but things are starting to get tight since relocating.

Streaming and buying our albums helps a bunch, and there are links to support us directly on our Linktree in our bio.
I would just like to point out that while I (Lindar) have had an obsession with weird time signatures for YEARS it really started to get out of hand when I discovered @adamneely.bsky.social / Sungazer and realized you can do more than 5 or 7. (Hence "The House" being in 15.)

((Go listen to them!))
Real conversation in the studio today:

Lindar: You could do a bang in 7.
Wendy: 7 is tricky for me. I'm better in 5.
Lindar: If 5 is just a silly 3 then 7 is just a silly 4.
We are presently looking for performing musicians in the Oakland / San Francisco area, as well as studio musicians for future projects. This is paid work, so if you or someone you know might be interested, please reach out!
Not many folks showed up and that's totally okay. The video should be up on YouTube for anyone who wants to hear rants about time signatures and chord voicings when playing with distortion.
Turn off HDR and any kind of upscaling/framegen and it's janky but playable.
Oh gosh yeah, trying to queue up a sonic wave/blast/whatever is nigh impossible.
Splatoon happened and suddenly gyro aiming was a major thing, then the Steam Controller dropped and I realized how much I could adapt it to my own needs, and as I get older I need to mind how I put wear on my hands, so KBM is a no-go for me anymore because of the strain.
Accessibility looks like a lot of things. It looks like fully captioned audio with speaker names and sound effects. It looks like letting people set their own inputs. It looks like adding gyro aiming.

Making gaming accessible is good, actually.
"Wow who actually needs that?"
People with accessibility issues.

Playing MH Wilds on my Steam Deck now that it can actually play at a moderate 25-30fps and it finally occurred to me to remap Y+B to a single grip button because I keep not being able to press both consistently.
Hey, if someone can sponsor everything we could swing that. Doing a south Pacific tour would be wild.
