Persons with HIV often can't find their way into transplant programs & face persistent institutional stigma. Thoracic transplant is especially restrictive.

HIV should not be a barrier. Fortunately, things are steadily improving:

? N.meningitidis? Seems too high a mortality rate for legionella, but perhaps. No discussion of VHF thankfully. Y.pestis? Cluster of H5 or imported MERs?? lots to evaluate, and not much in the media gives clues yet...
