i like to add them in between. not a great workflow, but i find it more motivating to just make whatever i feel like at that moment haha.
some stuff is also from habit, like, i'd add some template fx code straight away because i know i will want to use that later.

it can be damage up for example or an ability like this one where hitting plants will spawn leaf darts
