Light filters through the trees ahead. After so long, he expects the same clearing he's always returned to. What they found within does little to sway his expectations.

But no - he continues on and finds a road, and signs upon it marking travel within the past day.

His breath catches.
He says this half to himself, almost resigned to it. If he wanted to keep his gear in any respectable condition, he'd eventually need to take on work, and he'd doubtless need the extra eyes and strength.
His lips twitch into a brief smile at the impression, heedless of his dour mood. It's not long, though, before his questioning look turns to something more cautious, unsure.

"You could simply ask.

...Though I suppose I will 'ave to find a companion soon enough. Nothing else for it."
Galenos certainly seemed to be.

But he quirks a brow, turning to better face Lago.

"I can find another bear, though, it's not as if they're some rare, legendary creature. You just want to see [a] bear?"
ready to set up a tent and keep watch.

"I don't know what that is," he reminds Lago. "An... azuros, you say? Never 'eard of it.

Bruno is, eh... gone. Hopefully lived a good life." However long ago that might have been. He supposed there was no way to prove the bear wasn't still around somehow.
Well, it seemed they'd be camping right in that spot for the night, unless Lago's drunken, shambling form were dragged away by one of their beasts. He changes his mind at the last moment, and when he takes the bottle, he tucks it out of sight on his other side.

Better to keep a clear head,

WAAAAIIIIT

(Too drunk to follow for long before they fall over)
[Flees while they're confused!]
Oh là là...
(Rescued by King. Rides back up the river on the sponge dragon)
Certainly nothing so massive as that thing you set upon me. The largest was Bruno, a.... fucking, c'est ours...

Bear. 'e was a grizzly."
when they would enter the tournaments, or when my eldest cousins just wanted to show off.

...They're gone now." He could be speaking to himself, almost. "Sure as day, the Pentaghast line continued. I don't know a damn one of them.

...Ah, beasts, yes. I don't 'ave... a specialty or anything.
"That's true," he nods sagely. The alcohol's really starting to hit him, and he hasn't even tried standing yet. He eyes the bottle in Lago's hands - a bit over half-empty now - thinks on how much [he] was responsible for, and holds his hand out again.

"I used to love watching my aunts and uncles
and training. Surprisingly, he appreciates the company too much to risk another fight breaking out.

"'E sounds... a prolific 'unter, to have gone out so, and to have offered auch challenges. You fought alone? Outside of your monsters, that is.

'E really through you into the deep end, didn't 'e?"
He eyes the bottle as Lago retrieves it, but ultimately thinks better of another drink for himself - at least, not yet. Their hot tempers would only spark higher with wine clouding both their judgements.

And the pair clearly seemed to come from cultures with very different ideas on hunting
but I 'ave never bonded with anything larger than a bear, either."

He leans back, letting his swimming head rest against a stone behind him.

"One 'ell of an in'eritance, though."
Who would have won? Even in the forest, he was rarely alone, and the moment of confrontation gave him little time to prepare. Foolish, and an error he must not make a habit of.

"I imagine it 'elps with some sort of connection to greater beasts? I've never used much more than bait and treats,
...I think my world might be living in squalor. What the FUCK.
