I have always preferred VS Code or Jupyter for Python. RStudio was my go-to IDE for R, RMarkdown, and later Quarto. Positron feels more polished than the other two. Moreover, Posit may pull the plug on RStudio at some point in the future. I tried using Julia in RStudio, which was a pain.

I am switching to Positron for all my RStats and Python work. I was previously using RStudio for R and VS Code for Python, both of which I have uninstalled for now.

For the past several years, I have been teaching (1) Python programming and (2) Object-Oriented Programming with Python. This semester, I’m continuing to do so, and it’s always a joy to teach Python to university students.
