Finally tried the last of my birthday gifts: a pin loom. I love it! Less than 30 minutes to make this square, and that is while reading the instructions too. I thought I needed thicker yarn, but the look and feel of this single square make me think more of them will make an awesome light scarf! 🪡 🧶
A finished square still on the pin loom. The holes between the yarn are quite big and make it look like the whole thing will fall apart as soon as it comes off. The finished square, off of the pin loom. The holes have shrunk a bit and the square looks a lot more like a woven piece of fabric.

Figured I hadn't eaten anything with potato in ages, so meal prepped some potato things. A sauerkraut oven dish, and two stamppotten: one with carrot and onion and the other with leek and bell pepper. Also sharing my failures and not just succeses: the first batch of sauerkraut burned. 🍽️🍜
Burned sauerkraut in strainer. Two containers/meals of sauerkraut oven dish, topped with mashed potatoes and pineapple, which is the only thing visible Four containers of stamppot.

Just about an hour of progress today, but I'm getting close! This will definitely be the fasted I've ever finished a cross stitch, even one this small. 🧶🪡
An almost finished stamped cross stitch of a potted plant. There's just a bit one color in four leaves and a row of the pot itself left to do.

Yesterday's and today's progress on this cross stitch. Only two more colors to go :). It really keeps being fun and not counting goes fast! This took about 3,5 hours. If I had to count, I'd probably be happy to have finished the pot and only one leaf by now. 🧶🪡

Wanted to try a stamped cross stitch, to see what it is like to not have to count. It's fast! This is just 2 hours of progress, almost done with a single color. Daylight is fading fast though, so the rest will have to wait.. 🧶🪡

Wedding party tomorrow, so it was time to make a gift. The crochet lovebirds are sitting on a "nest" of "branches", made of rolled up money bills and wrapped in brown thread. Background is a cutout of the invitation card. 🪡🧶🧵

And I don't have pictures of it, but I also got to do some gaming and a lot of reading. And that concludes my meeting, and my vacation ;-)

Fifth: Cooking! While I wanted to try a bunch of new recipes, circumstances happened and made me busy during the second half of my vacation. But I did manage to clear a bit of time still to meal prep, making some simple favorites. 🍜🍽️
Two oven dishes, each holding four pieces of salmon and a sauce used to give them a honey glaze. A pan of noodles, mushrooms, beef, and spinach. Seasoned with a sauce that's mostly soy sauce. A pan of noodles, chicken, mixed vegetables. Seasoned with spices and kecap. A pan of pilav: pork, onions, peaches. The liquid parts are mostly ketchup and kecap.

Fourth: Gardening. Not a lot of blooming things left, but the Coleus is looking great (both in size and color) this year, I'm really happy with it. It'll be time to get some cuttings soon, with colder weather it'll start dying outside (and I'm not bringing it inside, too many bugs in the soil). 🌱

Third: Some crochet. I finally finished repairing the holes in a blanket, a project that I started over four years ago. I forgot how tedious that could be. 🧶

Second: Diamond painting. I got to finish two large ones to hang outside under the canopy.
A diamond painting showing three yellow fish inside a yellow bucket. A diamond painting of two toucans.

Back to work after four weeks of vacation. Immediately stuck in a boring meeting, so here is a thread with some vacation pictures ;-) First off: Birthday baking!

Party today, so two kinds of cakes baked. Apple crumble on the left, lemoncurd and passion fruit on the right. 🍜🍽️

Baked my first bread this morning. Just a plain white bread from a box mix, there's some room for improvement but it tasted like warm, fresh bread so I'm happy! 😃🍽️🍜

Well, it's been 8 months of gaming (finished the Stardew valley achievements) and reading in the evenings. But yesterday I finally managed to finish that microplastic painting I wanted to finish before the end of 2024 😅

The perennials are doing great too: I planted the knautia and pink scabiosa this year, the magnolia seems ready to bloom a second time (also, something seems to have been snacking on the bud?), and the anaphalis is full of buds despite having a though time through dry/hot weather earlier. 🌱

Besides weeds, there's also quite a few things growing/blooming in the garden right now. The ones below are the result of a flower mix I have sown. The orange flowers are so bright that my camera had a hard time focusing! The flowers seem to be popular with the local insect population as well. 🌱
A very, very bright orange flower. It's so bright that the camera had trouble focusing, and the flower looks almost one-dimensional. A close-up of a bumblebee in a bright pink flower. A close up of a flower stem with some leaves. It's covered in aphids and there are four ants visible that are tending to those aphids. A close up of a little viola flower. There's just one at the moment, hopefully a few more will grow.

Such a small garden, such a ridiculous amount of weeds despite the ground covering plants... They just keep growing straight through! 🌱
A blue 10L bucket filled to the brim with weeds (mostly grasses). A weed picking tool is stuck in there too.

Food on a plate instead of in a storage container for once. Homemade babi pangang. Nothing like the stuff you get from take out yet still very tasty. Also have at least 5 servings left to go in the freezer..🍽️ 🍜
tinkeringbell91.bsky.social
There's some spare room in the freezer after two weeks of eating meal-prepped dinners. I'll fill it with Dutch babi pangang this weekend, which means I also need a Dutch 'version' of acar to go with it. So, I made a lot of acar today, it's pickling in the fridge right now. 🍽️ 🍜
Two IKEA 365+ containers, one square 1L and one rectangular 2L. Filled almost to the brim with, in layers from bottom to top: thinly sliced cabbage, julienned carrot, mung bean sprouts, red chilli peppers (almost invisible), onion slices. And then moisture to pickle them in.

I grew some food!🌱 🍽️ They're 'pink blueberries' and the picture doesn't do the brightness of the pink (or their awesome sweet taste) justice. It's not much, but there's a bunch more on the plant that aren't ripe yet. I guess I have a few more snacks to look forward to 🍜😀
17 pink blueberries in a little small white plastic container.

Not sure if you know about it, but maybe this can help a little? You can go to 'Settings', 'Moderation' and then 'Interaction settings' and on that page you can limit who can reply to your posts (your followers, the ones you follow, no one). You can also disallow quote posts of your posts there. :)

I love those containers, so I got 30 of them 🤪 They're inexpensive, see-through (no labelling needed), the most 'stackable' of all containers I've tried (takes up the least amount of storage space when not in use) and they somehow fit into my freezer drawers perfectly, leaving no 'empty' holes.

And that's the final two done: roasted carrots and penne with a garlic sauce. 8 more servings, so that makes 28. Together with the stuff I prepare fresh (like salads), some canned soups and junk food days, that should be enough dinners for 6-8 weeks. 🍜🍽️
