Used to be a site that listed all the garbage these guys will use, and got one where I ticked off all the items including the ring the manager (using my phone! Likely calling his friend in the pub).

Went with a local company in the end that just did a quick quote, no faffing with haggling

Came across 8" maybe in 1989. Work experience at local council and their computer department was 8" floppies, big drum cartridge disc things, punch tapes(!), and some big old mainframe. No idea what I was doing.

Top tip if it occurs outdoors, you may be able to use the top cap bolt on the stem, as once stem bolts are tight it doesn't do much. Had that happen on an MTB once and a friend mentioned that, and sure enough it fitted. May not work with all seats and not sure top cap bolts are universal.

It's not that every individual driver is a murderous asshole (I'm not!). It's that car dependency as a whole is dangerous. It's that cars are deadly when they hit people. It's that our society prioritizes drivers above all else. It's about a system that is dangerous for anyone not in a car.

The anti-car brigade is really fucking weird.

The way they act like someone who drives regularly kills babies and kicks old ladies down the stairs is really fucking bizarre.

Radiologist reckoned helmet contributed to the spine fractures. Though that's just another opinion. Think his theory was it sent the shock through the spine instead of the head absorbing the impact. Though don't want the head doing that maybe, but the skull is surprisingly tough.

I had a big mtb smash, squished some vetebrae landing on my head (with helmet). Docs were saying "helmet saved your life". They don't know that. There's no way of knowing without repeating the exact same crash without a helmet. The helmet manufacturers admit they're not made to save lives.
