Hands in the soil. Watching plants grow without hurry. Listening to trees move in the wind. Clay worked slowly, honestly. Liam and Thad on East 3rd Street, Washington NC—showing up, tending what’s here, letting things become what they are.
Yesterday at the farm the tea plants are settling in and new growth is promising. The cut logs offers prospective of a future mushroom grove. The Northspore plugs are ordered. Going to try on top of oysters and terrestrials of wine caps, and Italian oyster. I may try lions mane snd something new.

We lost a pecan tree from the wind cracked on the western side facing the house. It was a small one but best got it down before it landed on the house. We got it to fall to the east. House is safe for another day.

Today I created a grape arbor by repurposing the one on the property. 10 x 10 on off center 6 poles. Each will have a single muscadine variety To grow on I’ll also transplant my kiwis onto their own trellis system. We have room to inhale some.

You may have seen the historic Washington announcement sign in front of 319 East Third Street. We are requesting to relocate the potter’s studio and greenhouse from Marjet Street to this site, continuing stewardship through reuse, repair, and intentional growth aligned with our current goals.
December 27, 2025 at 4:43 AM
The exchange of stewardship allows the Rose Haven Institute to realign and move forward, while the relocation of The Kracked Pot reflects our current aspirations, goals, and the direction we’re ready to grow into.
December 27, 2025 at 4:28 AM
We didn’t relocate because of failure. We relocated because an opportunity appeared and we were ready. The Kracked Pot has been successful as an Airbnb host, but East 3rd Street offered something more aligned with where we’re headed. It was the right moment to take it on.

What we saw was what a short amount of time can erase work and effort
December 27, 2025 at 4:19 AM
Without much drama, we resolved a situation and took on a dream. We gathered the best of what was left behind and carried it forward. Repurpose. Reuse. Reinvent. That’s my motto for 2026.

We waited for the land to be released by its former stewards. At the end of November it was let go. In December we signed, released savings, and followed the opportunity. As they relocated what they could, we took on the rest. A true season of transition.
December 27, 2025 at 4:08 AM
Over the last three months, what began as an opportunity has clarified into a clear way forward. With care and intention, The Kracked Pot is beginning its transition, setting new roots on East 3rd Street in Washington, North Carolina.
