I think in general I like when the stories are fun. The movies being like the first time I ever heard my friends who don’t care about Star Trek get into the franchise was pretty cool but I guess if you’re looking for real world parallels you won’t get that much out of the movies

I liked what I’ve seen but can’t say in depth cause I haven’t finished ds9, I thought I’d be able to pick it up after awhile but I think I actually just need to start over

Star Trek is a weird franchise cause the core of what people like about it is a utopic vision for 1960s America. I feel like anything that tries to modernize that kinda loses what people liked about it because the actual mechanism of storytelling is different nowadays (too much tell don’t show

I’m pretty sure the original writer was one of the first people who got laid off or quit, they had a lore doc for the avians and didn’t do any other race but the pdf is still available on the wiki
