❄️We may not have seen much snow in the Truckee Meadows lately, but cold weather still brings fire risks. Space heaters and home heating equipment should be used with care. Keep them clear of anything flammable, plug them directly into outlets, and never leave them unattended.

⚠️Residents will notice smoke from the Mount Rose area this week. Do not be alarmed, it is prescibed burning operation by HumboldtToiyabe US Forest and #TMFR Fire Crews. Motorists will see smoke in the roadways at about the 7,000 ft level near the Reindeer Lodge.

To prevent fires, have your chimney and vents cleaned and professionally inspected at least once a year to remove creosote buildup, soot, and debris. Regular cleaning is critical because flammable creosote can accumulate and ignite, leading to a chimney fire.
