Last night I felt nudged to stop by the record store. The owner, a widow and an old friend, was there alone, knitting. We talked, and I asked if she could special order something for me. Then she said she was so lonely. We talked for a long time. It's good to follow those feelings when they come.

Yesterday my son and I were asked to play guitar and lead songs at a candlelight vigil for Renee Good in our town. It was such a moving way to shift from doom scrolling to community building. And what a powerful thing for us to do that together.
