Valnet decided to shut down XDA's Gaming segment, so I'm starting 2026 looking for work. I'm open to any jobs or freelance opportunities in journalism, PR, or consulting. DM me if you'd like my email. Also, consider giving @jakejameslugo.bsky.social work, as he was let go today as well.

It’s so difficult to accurately articulate the anger I feel towards these outside forces that have come into my community and what they’re doing to my incredible state and its amazing people, as well as the rage I feel towards Democratic leadership for providing those people next to no backup.

For @gamespot.com, I reflected on the "one more thing" announcements previous Developer Direct showcases have had. They've been high points in an otherwise rough generation for Xbox. It may be more important than ever for them to have a moment like that in 2026: www.gamespot.com/articles/xbo...
Xbox Developer Direct's "One More Thing" Matters More Than Ever In 2026
In a period of uncertainty, Xbox needs an exciting surprise announcement during its next Developer Direct showcase.

I have mixed feelings about Life is Strange: Reunion. This series is a real soft spot for me, and I actually liked a lot of what Double Exposure did. That said, I like it as more of an anthology series, not an interconnected universe. Hopeful that Reunion will resonate with me, but not optimistic.

Alright, here's the official I'm looking for work thread. After four years at Inverse, taking the lead on gaming coverage, I'm now completely open to work. I've been a reporter, editor, podcast host, and much more. If you want to see what I can bring to the table, here's some of my best from Inverse

So thankful the Vikings gave up Sam Darnold for Nine this year.

This playoff game is dumb in the best way.

I'm incredibly saddened to see Inverse shut down gaming coverage. Selfishly, I helped build out that section at its genesis. Its closure means that almost every site I've worked at no longer exists in its original form. More importantly, a lot of fantastic writers are out of work at a terrible time.

I liked Life is Strange: Double Exposure a lot more than most other people, but I wasn't particularly jazzed by how the ending implied an Avengers: Endgame style team-up game was coming. Hopefully, this is more original and not that.

I am contributing to @gamespot.com again! I wish my first story back was about more lighthearted news, but it's about the Meta layoffs. It sucks to see, especially because I have nostalgia for all three studios' pre-VR games: www.gamespot.com/articles/met...
Meta Shuts Down The Studios Behind Deadpool VR, Asgard's Wrath 2, and Resident Evil 4 VR
Twisted Pixel Games, Sanzaru Games, and Armature Studio were all shut down by Meta as part of its latest wave of layoffs.

In 2025 Bears fashion, I texted Gio "you should've gone for it on fourth down" multiple times this game. They still won it though.

I've had a shitty year, so I'm happy to at least have this, even if we get blown out next week. This was basically the Bears' Super Bowl. We fix our defense and make Caleb more accurate and we have a shot to be up there with the league's best. The 2025 Bears will always be special to me, though.

After playing around 100 games in 2025, I plan on being a lot more intentional with what I play and beat this year. As such, I think I'll try to keep a running thread of every game (new and old) that I beat in 2026! I just completed my first one of the year tonight!

I don't like trauma dumping on main, but 2025 was definitely the hardest year of my life. From losing my job early on to simultaneously doing the freelancing and Master's Degree grind to some family medical stuff that popped up at the end of the year, it has been rough all around. Glad it's over!

Bears will be the NFC North Champions this season no matter what! And people were predicting we'd be out of the playoffs a couple of weeks ago!
December 28, 2025 at 4:20 AM
Wow, glad that Week 18 Lions game is a little less high stakes now. I would still like to win that and potentially get the #1 seed, but for the most part this NFC North season couldn't have gone much better for the Bears.
