I’m absolutely delighted that we’ve been able to help Wandsworth Council bring the first ever council homes to Battersea Power Station.

Thanks in part to funding from the Mayor of @london.gov.uk 200 council homes will be built next to this iconic building.

A real moment to celebrate.

We can’t build the homes we need without infrastructure.

It was good to discuss this at the @newstatesman1913.bsky.social’s Politics Live event this week. And even better to get confirmation from the government that the DLR extension to Thamesmead will go ahead - supporting 30k new homes.

This morning I visited Enfield for a tour of Meridian Water and the Enfield Construction Skills Academy.

Meridian Water is an exciting regeneration project being led by Enfield Council delivering:

🏡 10k homes
👨‍💼 6k jobs
👷‍♀️ Construction academy
🪴 Community garden
🛹 Skate park

Government backing for the DLR extension is fantastic news.

Extending the DLR to Thamesmead Waterfront via Beckton Riverside supports the delivery of 30,000 homes on both sides of the river.

It also enables the proposed New Town at Thamesmead.
Fantastic news for London: the DLR Extension to Thamesmead is going ahead with backing from the Government.

It’s something I’ve long called for, and will create jobs for Londoners and help deliver tens of thousands of homes in London.

The Mayor and London boroughs are acting to protect rough sleepers from freezing temperatures.

❄️ SWEP is activated whenever temperatures are forecast to drop to 0°C
🚨 Boroughs and charities will open additional emergency accommodation
🛌 City Hall also makes spaces available.
With temperatures dropping below zero, we’ve activated the Severe Weather Emergency Protocol for the first time this winter to ensure anyone sleeping rough in freezing conditions is offered emergency accommodation and support to stay off the streets for good.

Today is #InternationalMensDay and this morning I chaired a fantastic panel of speakers at City Hall on the topic of men’s health. Thank you to all our panellists for covering a range of areas including loneliness, stigma and access to mental health support.

It was great to celebrate 100 brand new affordable homes in Oval this morning delivered by Peabody and Berkeley Homes.

In total this development will deliver more than 1,350 homes, 35% affordable with funding from the Mayor of @london.gov.uk.

I’m proud to have served on both sides of the Greater London Authority, first as a @londonassembly.bsky.social member and then in the Mayor of @london.gov.uk’s team.

It was lovely to catch up with current and former colleagues at City Hall tonight as we celebrate 25 years of the GLA.

It was the 50th anniversary of the release of Patti Smith’s Horses this week, and I’m so sad to have missed the anniversary tour.

I last saw her live ten years ago. She performs like a high priestess, in communion with the crowd. There’s no one like her.

“If you support keeping car parks instead of housing, then you do not believe in a single new home being built anywhere in our city. You oppose building up. You oppose building out. You should come out and say it. You oppose building homes.”

Well said, Brenda! 👏🏻
London faces a choice: the politics of protest, or the politics of progress.

We’re building homes. Others are blocking them.

My op-ed in @thelondonstandard.bsky.social
on why Lewisham, @london.gov.uk and our #Labour government are up for the fight.
‘Just as Lewisham reached the point of turning years of consultation into meaningful change, Jeremy Corbyn swept into the borough at the eleventh hour’

The end of no fault eviction is finally in sight! Promised for 5 years by the last government but never delivered, now delivered by this government.

This is a key part of the Mayor of @london.gov.uk’s Blueprint for Renting, much of which is being implemented by the Renters’ Rights Act.
On 1 May 2026, we will abolish Section 21 ‘no-fault’ evictions when we switch on the new private rented sector tenancy system.

Nancy Pelosi was right about the Iraq War. She was right about human rights in China. She was right about healthcare. She stood up for LGBT rights when few would.

But being right isn’t enough. She also knows how to build alliances and deliver. She’s a remarkable politician.

City Hall and MOPAC are doing innovative and trailblazing work to support victims and survivors of domestic abuse in London.

It was good to have the opportunity to discuss this work with minister @allymcgovern.bsky.social and members of the Domestic Abuse Housing Group today.
