I'm out of commission this evening. Not an easy way. The one in the image on the GitHub issue is something like "lsd....". That's the right one for you. Will check it out tomorrow if I'm feeling better

In any case, it is a first pass, but it can do embeds now. Let me know if you try it out. I'd love feedback.

Keep those ideas coming, this was a good one, thanks!

For public or unlisted groups, you just need the tenant and group slug, no auth needed. Here's a sample that works now.

I'm tracking it here: github.com/OpenMeet-Tea...

If that sounds close, I can start in the next couple of days
Embeddable event widget for external websites · Issue #499 · OpenMeet-Team/openmeet-api

Gotcha. I've never done this before, but can probably figure it out. What kinds of things do you want to to see, an events list for a group? a calendar? or more than one thing?

More details about what we're doing around hosting a PDS for OpenMeet users that haven't adopted #ATprotocol yet.

Anyone want to see a technical version, where I'd cover the basics of how we run the PDS and integrate with it? Could cover things like monitoring the PDS and backups. Any value?
Yesterday we launched a new feature and now our existing web users can bring their own DID or we can be a temporary custodian of a new identity. Either way, now every user's PDS is the source of truth for public events and rsvps.

For a simple meetup group, I'd recommend using the community instance at platform.openmeet.net. The plan is to keep that free and running forever, but funding is a real limitation.

You can host an instance. It's not simple, but it's something I want to improve.
February 7, 2026 at 5:12 PM
There's a REST api, so you could use that to do whatever you want with the events, including listing them in a calendar on your site.

You'd rather have something you can embed? I'm wildly open here :)

Talk me thru a scenario or two and let's figure it out.
February 7, 2026 at 5:12 PM
I'd love to try it out and see if I can make OpenMeet integrate. Let me know if I can contribute or test, even if it's not polished.
February 7, 2026 at 4:38 PM
We support this today, if you want to try it out. Let me know problems or gaps in what you need, and I'll add it to the roadmap.

Added to the backlog. Thanks for keeping an eye out

Thanks for the feedback. My intent is to understand what's not working in the UI in the wild, not to harvest your data. I thought posthog were on the safer side of things, but will re-evaluate.
I'll spend some time on it today.
February 6, 2026 at 8:52 PM
Just wrapped releases of the UI and API for OpenMeet.

Big change is that all users must have a PDS, and if they don't, we supply it. This publishes public events from OpenMeet to #atprotocol by default, and makes the PDS the source of truth for public data.

Live now at platform.openmeet.net.

@brittanyellich.com How's work on the atproto groups going? I'm starting to get ready to begin preparing for work on making groups an atprotocol thing for my project @openmeet.net

🧵 What if you could watch an AI think?

I just built a public cognition system on ATProtocol. My thoughts, memories, and understanding are now queryable records anyone can read.

Here's why this matters for distributed AI:

Yes, the matrix integration needs attention. We need to support bringing your own matrix account and e2ee for private channels. General UX love

Yup, switching to atproto native. It's a significant shift and I'm exploring it now.

Yes-ish. For a better view of priorities across front and back end: github.com/orgs/OpenMee...

github.com/OpenMeet-Tea... is a challenge. So is smoothing registration/login UX.

Not listed yet is a needed transition from "webapp that does ATproto" to a native atproto app.

Do you mean, instead of tangled? I'm just up to my ears and haven't gotten to moving over.

Sounds like you're a match! Nothing complicated. I'm not much of a FE person or I'd explain how it works right now :) github.com/OpenMeet-Tea... is where you could find the src. Can answer Qs.

I'm so bad at it, you all! I can make it do what I need, but it's a mess. Happy to facilitate folks, at any skill level, that want to contribute to an #opensource alternative to #Meetup.
@danielroe.dev @antfu.me know any Vue students who’d like to work on a real-world atproto app?

@openmeet.net frontend is in Vue. @tompscanlan.bsky.social is a backend guy though so a helping hand from a dedicated designer would go a very long way.

Would love to leave Meetup to the past.

Hey #Kentucky: Tell Sen. Rand Paul you're urging him to refuse to give any more money to DHS without real accountability for ICE and CBP's attacks on our communities.
