It was a long time ago that I was young too, but I lived even further south then and they had already been gone a few years there.

Thanks Linda! It was good to get an eye level shot of one on the ground for a change.

A pair of gannets for Rob's #Mr&Mrs #BirdOfTheDay theme

Thanks for the heads up Rob.
I would strongly suggest that everyone posting photos should also subscribe to the Content Scrapers Block List, and report any instances of stolen photos (with evidence) to that account, which provides a fantastic service maintaining the list.

#SundaySquirrel is here again
I have been back with the red squirrels ♥️ this week after a long break for various reasons.
This is one of three siblings that visit our feeder.
Pleased with this shot - it only posed for a moment!

I see them here only very occasionally, some years not at all.

It seems to be a very long time since I photographed a #birdonawire, Alan's #BirdOfTheDay theme for today, so here's a yellowhammer on our garden fence from a few years back.

Thanks! Actually a surprisingly easy shot! Yes, a cliff edge on the Isle of May in June, but where there's a slight dip, I think above Bishop's Cove, and although no fence, a large flattish area where you can look along the cliffs. I'm not good with exposed drops, so was nowhere near the edge 😬🫣🤣

Here is a beautifully dainty kittiwake for Alan's #BirdOfTheDay #shadesofgrey theme with more complementary shades of grey in the surrounding rocks. This lovely gull is in trouble, red listed, with the UK breeding population nearly halved over the last 50 years or so.
