Hmm. Book burning huh? Now let me think, there’s something, definitely something…can’t quite recall it, sort of torchlight-paradey in the back of my mind…
Chris Mason is essentially the political equivalent of a gossip columnist or football commentator. There’s no substantive analysis or insight, it’s all predicated upon who’s up and who’s down. Utterly vacuous, shallow guff.
No, I mean with current fiscal rules (I know, I know) the gap between spending and revenue is smaller. There’s a long way to go before we get to balance and then spending going up. Unless you change the rules, or raise more taxes or find realisable savings that don’t have other spend consequences…
There are many criticisms you might sensibly and truthfully make of the Sentencing Council and the Sentencing Guidelines. I’ve been making them for years.
But this is an outright lie. Pure fabrication. A fraud on the public.
All of it. Migrants aren’t causing Scotland’s housing crisis. Extra money to cover the 4000 of them won’t fix Scotland’s 35000 homeless households crisis let alone the wider housing crisis. And it is utterly dishonest to conflate the two. The SNP Govt scared off billions of PRS investment.
Though the SNP’s Mairi McCallan is in the Herald today conflating Scotland’s housing crisis with the cost of the number of migrants with leave to stay in Scotland who are applying as homeless - and demanding more money from Westminster for it. A misleading proposition at best.
I mean, that’s just not true. Just for a start STV is essentially a propaganda arm for the Scottish Government. Not surprising really when you look at the advertising revenues the Scottish Government spends with STV.
