Happy to see you gave me a photo credit for my chiton. They can be so spectacular, and now with daytime minus tides, we can find them again! Wendy
Thousands in Port Townsend, Too!
I was excited to find a Nanaimo Nudibranch (Acanthodoris nanaimoensis), only the fifth I've ever seen. This one was a spectacular juvenile, an inch long, and lying upside down on a wooden platform during a minus tide. Here it's rescued and I hope safe.
I lie them, too! There are lots of them on boulders in the Salish Sea. Here's one that showed up in a tank at the Port Townsend Marine Science Center.
This Olympic Gull tried to swallow a Mottled Star ("starfish") whole, and after 15 minutes, succeeded!
I love looking closely at Lecanora xylophila (Driftwood Rim-Lichen) on driftwood on the shores of the Salish Sea.
I adored Nature Obscura and its illustrations!
A female Hooded Merganser glowed in the afternoon light.
Today's rainbow between two islands on the Olympic Peninsula.
My town has hundreds of Columbian Black-tailed Deer. This time of year some males proudly show off enormous antlers. This little guy has an asymmetric look.
A juvenile Cooper's Hawk either politely curtsied to me or was embarrassed to lose her balance?
#addOcean Three Steller Sea Lions swam by and were as curious about us as we were about them!
The Trumpeter Swans have arrived on the Olympic Peninsula!
Thank you for posting this, it's the first I've heard.
