Government accused of ‘sliding backwards’ on child mental health after ‘devastating’ analysis
Suicide rates among children and young people have increased by 50% in the last decade, according to figures published for the first time.
The analysis looked at data from almost 12 million children and young people who were aged between 15 and 25 from 2011-12 to 2021-22.
In the UK and Ireland, Samaritans can be contacted on freephone 116 123, or email [email protected] or [email protected]. In the US, you can call or text the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline on 988, chat on 988lifeline.org, or text HOME to 741741 to connect with a crisis counselor.
