Which is why we need to elect more Dems, retake the House and prevent these trap resolutions from even getting voted on.

I heard her explain this at the Farmers Market. Voting No would have been characterized as voting against condemning political violence, as the following clause was in the resolution. Voting Yes was obviously seen as honoring Charlie Kirk. She chose to vote to condemn political violence.
Final resolved clause of the resolution: calls upon all Americans — regardless of race, party affiliation, or creed — to reject political violence, recommit to respectful debate, uphold American values, and respect one another as fellow Americans.

Enjoyed walking around the Farmers Market with @debbiedingell.house.gov this morning before a @moreneighborsa2.org Walking Tour!

You can find Debbie there most weekends listening to neighbors & checking in with vendors. We’re lucky to have a Rep. who is so accessible & connected to our community.

Not sure who all the private contributors were, but “the park is being created by the Lower Town Riverfront Conservancy with over $20 million in state funding and over $10 million in private donations.” The Conservancy lists a few of the supporters here: lowertowna2.org

It was nice to see #A2Council colleagues and celebrate the opening of Broadway Park West! The reclamation and cleanup of this space ensures the Huron River will be open & accessible in the heart of #AnnArbor. Thanks to the Lowertown Riverfront Conservancy for their dedication to making this happen.

While there was much to disagree with Charlie Kirk about, violence doesn’t resolve those differences, and likely entrenches them further with his supporters.

In America, political disputes should be resolved with ballots, not bullets.

My thoughts are with Mr. Kirk’s family in their time of loss.

Gun Violence remains too prevalent in America. Hatred remains too prevalent in our politics. We can & must reject both.

#GunViolence is not how we should solve political disputes, nor should it be acceptable in our schools, nightclubs, communities, or places of worship…

We can & must stop this.

Already in ‘25, more than 525 pieces of anti-LGBTQ legislation have been introduced at the state & federal levels across the US. In times when #LGBTQ rights are under threat, we must remember to honor, protect, and uplift our rights here at home, and never stop fighting for them. #A2Council

Now, whenever our next generation of #LGBTQ leaders visit City Hall, they can read our history & see themselves reflected in it – as integral contributors to our city’s success who are valued, respected & celebrated, and can someday earn their own place in our history books. #A2Council

This week, we unveiled a new state historical marker at City Hall — the first in Michigan dedicated to LGBTQ+ Rights & History — and honored former #A2Council Members Kozachenko, DeGrieck & Wechsler and #LGBTQ Rights Pioneer Jim Toy, my late friend and mentor.

Join us tomorrow at City Hall to celebrate Michigan’s first state historical marker honoring #LGBTQ history — which pays tribute to former #A2Council Members Kathy Kozachenko, Nancy Wechsler & Jerry DeGrieck, and community leader Jim Toy for their contributions to #AnnArbor #LGBT Rights & History.

Thank you to the Ann Arbor Dems (and all the volunteers) for another amazing Labor Day Picnic and to the leaders who spent part of their day in Ann Arbor with us (including @debbiedingell.house.gov, @garlingilchrist.bsky.social & @abdulelsayed.bsky.social). #LaborDay #AnnArbor #A2Council

Labor Day is an opportunity to thank unions for their contributions to our society, celebrate the working class that makes our nation strong & prosperous, and organize for more economic opportunity & better working conditions — and the leaders who will support them. #LaborDay #AnnArbor #A2Council

This project was made possible when Felicia & I worked together to secure $1.2M in state funds. I appreciate Felicia’s community-focused leadership & steadfast advocacy to ensure this project was funded, and her willingness to work with me to secure this important investment in our community. 2/2

Tonight, I joined the Forestbrooke neighborhood alongside Felicia Brabec, Mayor Taylor & CM Ghazi Edwin for the pool’s final swim of the season…and final swim before breaking ground a project to make this neighborhood gem & gathering space more accessible, inclusive & environmentally-friendly. 1/2

After previously accusing the City of perpetrating “a fraud upon the electorate” over Proposals A & B and seeking to cancel an active election, in what Mayor Taylor called “campaign disinformation in the form of a lawsuit,” plaintiffs voluntarily dismissed their lawsuit today. #A2Council
