Mamdani talking lucidly and passionately about trans rights and history in a video that should frankly shame every politician who has hemmed and hawed and triangulated and said, "Well, but sports..." It's not that hard to tell the truth and stand for what's right. www.youtube.com/watch?v=bEvV...

I knew it was going to be special when it finally happened

You can’t script it. The Mariners are willed to victory by Humpy the fish finally winning his first race in the middle of the 15th inning. The crowd chants “Humpy Humpy” as the trident crosses off the ALDS win.

David Simon, creator of ‘The Wire’, being interviewed by Ari Shapiro (NPR)
SHAPIRO: OK, so you've spent your career creating television without Al, and I could imagine today you thinking, boy, I wish I had had that tool to solve those thorny problems...
SIMON: What?
SHAPIRO: ...Or saying...
SIMON: You imagine that?
SHAPIRO: ...Boy, if that had existed, it would have screwed me over.
SIMON: I don't think Al can remotely challenge what writers do at a fundamentally creative level.
SHAPIRO: But if you're trying to transition from scene five to scene six, and you're stuck with that transition, you could imagine plugging that portion of the script into an Al and say, give me 10 ideas for how to transition this.
SIMON: I'd rather put a gun in my mouth.

“This is not the time for hope” will live in Seattle political infamy.

In his closing statement, Harrell said, "This is not the time for hope. Passion and great ideas and inexperience is just not going to get us there. Trump will walk all over a person without experience, period."

Just saw a SPD recruitment video that looked like it cost about $50 million and I’d be interested to know how much of that was paid for by me

Just remembered something from the Ballet on Friday. During the curtain call all the dancers got applauded, then they bring out a dude in a tux, presumably the director, and from where I was sitting he looked EXACTLY like Tim Robinson. So that was a treat
