Beloathed captures a specific feeling. A beloathed person is someone that I quite like, but we are such fundamentally different people that it’s impossible to get along/become friends.

Can Fujimoto elaborate on the “4 possible conclusions other than death at the end of living beings’ life spans?”

I really do my best to find ingredients at the grocery store. But I’ve been to 4 stores, and no tamarind concentrate.

President Trump said the ouster of Maduro has implications for the Cuban regime.

“I think Cuba is going to be something we’ll end up talking about,” he said. “It’s very similar in the sense that we want to help the people of Cuba.”

I fear this will galvanize the administration to do more regime change operations. They’re already taunting Cuba. And, of course, the evilest men salivate at the thought of overthrowing Iran (although unlike Venezuela, this would require boots on the ground)

Having an administration that is so open about how regime change is about making money… It’s not “worse” than an administration that does consent manufacturing.
But it’s definitely more humiliating.

Benoit Battler would’ve defeated Beatrice by the end of chapter 1

Nerd vs Critic 2026

I enjoy Alice friend of Misha’s Bluesky thread journaling her multimedia experience last year. Can I steal this idea, or will I be tackled and killed? 🤔

No matter how doomer I get about anthropogenic climate change, it’s comforting to know it won’t be worse than the Permian–Triassic extinction event. Earth has recovered from worse carbon cycle disruptions. Even if humans wipe ourselves and a million other species out, SOMETHING is gonna make it.

The funny thing about a physics engine is that you don’t need to make a UI visualization in order for the simulation to run. A 3D shape is just a bitstream. The difference between a brain and a computer is standardized de/serialization.

I’m also not that torn up about qualia. Like… Think about the evolution of the eye, from a light detecting node to a complex optical lens. Think about the data being collected, and how it must be stored in the brain. Kinda like building a 3D game engine.
Then add emotional associativity, and voila!

I feel like anti-physicalist arguments regarding the hard problem of consciousness really rely on the fact that people can “imagine” a p-zombie. But we don’t have evidence that a p-zombie is possible.

Didn’t expect someone to solve Beatrice’s epitaph by Chapter 3. I figured that would be a huge endgame turnabout moment.

So is Virgilia the same person as Kumasawa? Or is Kumasawa a totally distinct human vessel? (Presupposing the inner logic of the magical world)

Umineko is about: epistemology, predicate logic, and the ways that patriarchy force women to hurt each other

The thing is, I don’t know if I should be theorizing a “materialist” explanation for the core mystery of Umineko.

Battler-kun, you simpleton, haven’t you heard of Bayesian epistemology?

So does Battler ever actually solve these locked room puzzles, or does he just scream “it’s useless!” and hit the Phoenix Wright pose over and over?

1) Roomba for potato chips specifically
2) Cheetos dust napkin
3) Companionship or whatever
