Guiding game devs along their journey to achieve funding through Kickstarter|
Raised over €325,000 for indie devs!

Ready for a successful Kickstarter?
The secret to success on Kickstarter is simple.

Launch WITH your community.

Backers seek innovation, not desperation.

Fun fact about me.

When I'm not working on Kickstarters.
Sometimes, I like to pull Pokémon cards.

What do you think?
Too many, or not enough?

"Before we invest all our efforts into marketing, we first need to optimize our funnel or.

Clean up our Headquarters.

We don’t want to invite players into a labyrinth of a server to find channels.

It's the same idea as tidying up before inviting company over."

In 2024, Twitter/X was the top social media platform for converting followers to backers on Kickstarter.

LinkedIn being the worst.

Be careful where you're exausting your efforts.

One platform you might struggle to get $200.
While another could bring in $23,000.

Did you know?

$8.5 Billion has been invested in new projects on Kickstarter.
With almost 100,000,000 pledges on the platform.

Games even being the #1 category.

An indie game only needs a couple hundred people to get funded.
But, if you're feeling stuck finding people...

Congratulations on everything you accomplished this year!!!

This year was full of ups and downs...
But 2024 has ended, and it's time to reflect on some of your greatest accomplishments.

Here's a look at what I've done in the last year!

Want to know how we raised over €110,000 in less than a week on @kickstarter?

Happy to teach you how to master Kickstarter and how to get funding for your indie game.

It all comes down to these three points.

- Community
- Engagement
- Strategy

Do you have what it takes?

You need to start updating your backers more...
Even if your campaign ended a while ago.

Your backers would much rather have a minor/tiny update from time to time.

Instead of waiting half a year for a "full" update.

Since the launch of our Kickstarter, we have steadily maintained a position around the top pages.

We've also been able to do that with each campaign we collaborated with at @TheGentleland!

A solid placement on Kickstarter is key to reaching new heights for publicity.
October 27, 2024 at 8:15 PM
How many backers does your campaign need?
Well, that depends.

A campaign with a max of $100 tier will need a wider audience of backers since their "pledge per backer" will be low.

Higher cost tiers can increase your pledge per backer.
But require a deeper level of connection.

A tiny factor for Kickstarter can have a devastating effect, leading to a failed campaign.

Timing

Launching your campaign too early and at the wrong time.
Let's say... Christmas.

Can kill your campaign.

It's crazy to think your success could result from a short delay.
October 26, 2024 at 9:28 PM
Your audience can read your confidence, even through the screen.
And across the globe, you can't hide it.

If you aren't confident that your campaign will get funded.
Your audience will feel that and won't bother pledging.

No one will believe in your dream if you don't.
October 26, 2024 at 6:28 PM
Positioning is vital for a successful Kickstarter.

Launching a new
- Demo
- Trailer
- Rewards/tiers

It can look like you rushed the Kickstarter and can't follow a timeline.

Or it will feel like something new and exciting is coming.

This all depends on your positioning.

Want to know two AMAZING events to align for your Kickstarter?

Steam Next Fest
Pitch Ya Games

I've watched wonders happen from promoting a Kickstarter during these events.

Timing is everything for Kickstarter.

Did you know @gentleland has a 100% success rate on Kickstarter?

Every Kickstarter campaign we launched has been a success.
With some reaching stretch goals.

Our dream is to get funding for indie game developers.

So, want to know how we do it?
October 25, 2024 at 3:28 PM
Keep updating your campaign page, even long after it ends.

Got a new demo? Send an update
Attending a new event? Send an update.

If you take too long, your audience will start requesting an update.
Don't leave your backers waiting to hear more.

They miss you.
October 24, 2024 at 8:49 PM
Be quick to show appreciation to your backers for all they've done.

Either as a whole, or for a certain individual.

We had a backer share the Witchstarter event to us.

When they saw their name in appreciation on the next update, it made their day.

Go make someone's day.
October 24, 2024 at 7:26 PM
If you're not creating a $1000 reward tier.
Or a €3000 tier.

Not only are you missing out on potentially big funding, but
Your audience is missing an opportunity to invest even deeper in your campaign.

Create that big reward.
Pitch it on your next update.
Push for an upsell.

@Kickstarter is the reason many indie devs have even been able to create their game.

I've watched indie devs quit their jobs and focus on their game full-time while hiring additional team members.

It's not only putting funding into our industry.
But making dreams come true.
October 23, 2024 at 6:27 PM
Delaying a Kickstarter will rarely ever cause a campaign to fail.

So, what does kill a Kickstarter before it even goes live?

When the community engagement dies.
Once the engagement stops, it's a hell of a battle to pull off the Kickstarter now.
October 22, 2024 at 6:28 PM
Cross-promoting with other Kickstarter campaigns is an excellent way to reach new backers.

Don't worry.
No one will leave your Kickstarter to back another.

But their backers could back your game.
And leave a huge pledge, too!
October 22, 2024 at 3:28 PM
Who said you can't launch a Kickstarter because your country is ineligible?

I know of two ways to get around this problem.

1. Stripe Atlas partnership with Kickstarter.
or
2. Work with a professional agency that focuses on Kickstarter.

There's always a way around.
October 21, 2024 at 9:25 PM
Everyone wants to know, "What's your secret to Kickstarter?"

The truth is, I don't have any... I wish I did.
The answer has been in front of you the whole time.

All you need to get money to finish your game is:

- Community
- Purpose
- Communication

And of course, execution.
October 21, 2024 at 4:28 PM
There's a lot of potential for indie devs on Kickstarter.

Given the increasing popularity of games and how our industry took a hit in terms of jobs and funding opportunities.

Now is the best time to look into crowdfunding.
October 20, 2024 at 8:15 PM
A Kickstarter campaign that focuses on the community's needs and not the team.

That is a campaign worth pledging toward.
