Good for you!

My wife is a therapist and too often deals with parents who choose denial over getting their kids the support they need.

He's like the closeted bisexual ultra religious people who think homosexuality is a choice because they don't realize not everybody is attracted to both men and women like they are.

Spinners are winners!

Usain Bolt is 6'5" and spins at 258 when he's racing and being the fastest human alive.

Whenever someone tells me "I don't think I'm over-striding" I tell them about that Mo Farah quote.

If the elites are constantly vigilant of the over-stride you should be, too.

One of my favorite bits from Older Yet Faster:

Mo Farah said, "I was just digging in, digging in and making sure I didn't over-stride" when he ran a 54-second last lap to hold off Ibrahim Jeilan in the 10,000 meters World Championship in 2013.

I spent literal decades fighting the paper tiger of vertical impact. First with over reliance on cushioning and then "running forefoot" to mitigate it. Got me nothing but injury and frustration.

Once I turned my attention to not braking by not over-striding... Like running cheat codes.

Is she sure it's not the girlfriend of that actor on Fox News pretending to be antifa?

Hard =/= fast
Easy =/= slow

Speed and effort have a relationship but it's not 1:1. It's complicated.

Running is a sport like any other. It's about how you play the game. It's not just about who can mindlessly grunt it out like a dumb animal.

I'm curious if this won't be significantly worse than that. 25 years ago tech still had a niche audience. Now it's fully mainstream. Without AI data centers GDP growth would only be 0.1%. fortune.com/2025/10/07/d...

Right?

My cousin's ex said "that was serious Dad energy!" after Trump said he'd use the army to stop the George Floyd protests.

I told him "I don't need another dad. I need a president."

LOL that's a great username. :)

He reminds a lot of his supporters of their own shitty, abusive fathers. They think it's normal.

I didn't realize when I thought of my governor Tim Walz as "America's Dad" that I needed to check my privilege.

Can't wait for the inevitable crash and conservatives telling me I'm overreacting to the DOW shitting the bed and skyrocketing unemployment.

All this has happened before.
All this will happen again.

A friend of mine posted about a dream he had during the DAPL protests after he went back to Standing Rock a few times to be with family and join the protests. He dreamed that the army invaded his home and stole everything. Serious generational trauma.

I got a black eye once. Boo hoo.

Growing up a white boy on the Standing Rock Rez gave me a lifelong appreciation for this. Beat up by some native kids at school because I was white. "Escaped" racism when my family moved off the rez.

Native people can't escape it. Watching the army descend on my old rez 9 years ago with DAPL...

Dang. This really clicks. I feel like I've been ice skating uphill trying to tell people that "barefoot shoes" is a ridiculous term because no matter how thin or minimalist they are not the same as actual bare feet on harsh ground. I get accused of rigid thinking there but the nuance is all.

I'm 75% water and the rest is autism.

If you owe $1.2T that's your problem. If you owe $1.3T that's the bank's problem.

I'm listening to "Turning Japanese" by The Vapors in a whole new light now.

I keep learning new things with bare feet on the street sprints. From today's session notes on Strava:
8x200 sprints bare feet on the street

Really focused on not letting my feet slap this time. Last couple sessions I got blood blisters which don't happen with long distance barefoot on paved and I realized my feet were slapping loudly. So I made mindfulness and quiet feet my goal.

And, of course, my times got a little better again: 31-32s each rep. The easier and more mindful my sprinting gets the faster it gets. Like any other sport running is about how you play the game not just how *hard* you try.

I recently rewatched 2001. They make a big deal about how precise and accurate HAL is and how no 9000 computer has ever made a mistake.

"Oh! Right... This is fiction."
