To play devil's advocate (heh), this is exactly the type of detail that needs to get into the story.

Always a profound experience to participate in the walk for truth and reconciliation in ʔaq̓am.
The St. Eugene resort itself is a former residential school site that closed in 1970.
It was purchased by the Ktunaxa Nation over 25 years ago & transformed into what it is today.

It's print deadline day so that means big news has to drop in the middle of paginating the paper.
Anyway, the City of Cranbrook's application to the New Spaces Fund was successful.
New $13.5M daycare (123 spaces) will be located beside WFP.

Grateful for the invite to a prescribed burn in the Bull River area near Cranbrook this afternoon, which was a part of the Kootenay ʔa·kinq̓uku TREX (training exchange).
Really interesting to see the real-time operation of a prescribed burn and watching how that training was put into practice.

BC's premier is holding a presser about LNG expansion and a rare opportunity to ask questions about things like climate goals and Indigenous partnerships, and media keep asking Qs about Eby hiring a comedian as a speechwriter... 🫠

COLUMN: EKRH in Cranbrook is getting a new building for renal and oncology services.
The province approved a 3rd floor after lobbying from local officials, but won't contribute funding towards it.
That's a galling decision.

OPINION: Dollars and sense on delivering rural health care infrastructure
While the province has committed to renal and oncology expansion, it won't fund the 3rd floor of a new planned building at EKRH

...Weir participated in the groundbreaking ceremony for the F.W. Green Memorial Home expansion project in Cranbrook yesterday.
At the end of today's meting, the hospital board adjourned to closed.
I suspect Weir is getting an earful about the need for an EKRH master plan, among other concerns.

Eby came out informally (we found out through, uh, sources) in Oct. 2023 and stopped in the Townsman office for an interview. I think he was here to meet with the Ktunaxa Nation and do a heli-tour of Elk Valley waterways and mining operations, but his presence here wasn't publicly announced.

I'm not trying to dunk on anyone by making that observation but -

It just seemed odd that there wasn't a cabinet minister present for a $232 million project.

Lots of local dignitaries were present though, even those who weren't a part of the formal program.
