She's 35, has been working nonstop since she was like 14, and is a demi-billionaire. If she wants to take a break and make cookies all day, it's nobody's business. Also her fiance will retire soon and nobody is ascribing any particular ideology to him, trad or otherwise.

I once was in an airport wine bar with three women on the same delayed flight, who quickly learned they had all simultaneously dated the same guy -- who they then proceeded to call. So, women aren't exactly defenseless.

We are all going to find out what security clearances, if any, Elon Musk actually has. I'm actually sort of digging this trend where Federal judges use their own public statements as evidence of public interest in the facts.

I don't really care about BASE jumpers or whatever. They're choosing to risk their lives and if they die, they die. But there are still tourists, many from overseas, staying in the park's hotels -- if one of them gets taken out by a a a scofflaw while obeying all the rules themselves, it will suck.

When are we going to learn that trying to shut down national parks just doesn't work at all? Yosemite is apparently overrun with squatters and thrill seekers right now, and it's not clear if there are any rangers outside the Valley :(

And their population at the time was incredibly united in their policy goals: security, modernization, opportunity. They also almost all agreed who their friends and enemies were. America today is SO FAR from being this united towards any goal.

South Korea had one of the best dictatorships of all time, one that actually delivered prosperity and opportunity -- and it STILL resulted in decades of torture and repression. It's a GIGANTIC risk to think the American people will learn the right lesson from a lil taste of authoritarianism.

Plus it's a fact that we are advised to take fewer painkillers for the same or worse maladies. Less Tylenol should mean less autism if this theory were born of logic instead of some kind of motivated reasoning I entirely fail to grasp.
