Whatever your academic discipline, pls see below for an accessible, inclusive, and common sense approach to dissemination of scholarship. The best thing is that you already have the tools and abilities to implement this model.
If you are worried about conference fees... don't be

Anyone delivering a paper or session at a Romancing the Gothic conference pays nothing to attend and receives an honorarium.

Because why should we ask you to pay to work and kindly share your work with others?
The Romancing the Gothic Conference 2025 is now open and waiting for your submissions!

Going through a deep George Gissing phase, pls share any opinions / criticism / thoughts my way. #victorianlit #19thc #GeorgeGissing #Dickens #victorian #findesiecle #amreading
Hmmn yes I wouldn’t be able to advise but definitely seems worth exploring . Your work on this seems valuable to me and you deserve to be compensated in the same way that your speakers are. 🖤 Also might help actually create some change!
On a more positive note, if somewhat capitalist, have you ever thought of monetising eg accessible conference consulting or something? These people would surely rather pay than think for themselves.
It’s like, did Covid not happen? Did we not all learn how to do video calls? Would it cost so much to press the Teams meeting on your previous calendar invites?
Will be submitting an abstract that was accepted for another Gothic conference with fancy dinners and such, that I wasn’t able to attend because guess what? Wasn’t accessible 👀
My paper may not be accepted but I will certainly be an attend either way because guess what? You made it accessible 🖤
In fairness I think to different people it means different things eg according to Google it means light / shining in Arabic 🖤
I had a friend in my primary school
class whose name was Lamia 👀
I like this post a lot. My boyfriend once pointed out the heritage of Puritanism in the USA and for me it speaks to the current administration eg route from Oliver Cromwell to Trump via the Mayflower. Especially this second (forever?) term. But also the wider point you made is really powerful
This is a class issue that no one thinks about -thank you for highlighting Ray
This should be framed and placed in the hallways of every Creative Writing course or programme anywhere. 🖤
Dear writers:

Write that story. Edit mercilessly. Send that email. Ignore the haters. Stay humble, but be confident. Get paid. Read a lot. Write despite your insecurities. Support others. Accept helpful criticism. Celebrate everything. Don't panic. Never quit. You got this.
Needed to see this today. Thank you Gabino
Stoker by a country mile, but I would say that 🖤
What can your friends across the pond do- anything? (I’m a Brit who wants to join the resistance)
The one with the iconic turbines that are… shut off, right? Because too noisy for….person living in penthouse 👀
That’s just my first initial thought though, I’m not saying that people who demand to be heard at universities should have the right to do so, far from it.
I don’t think universities do a good job of connecting with the public. I think there is an element of elitism in there - academics should be in public libraries, on YouTube, etc rather than tucked away in ivory towers. Makes it too easy for these entitled folk to claim they are being silenced.
I don’t understand why this argument is never effectively made. Not everyone in the world has an automatic right to be platformed at a university. Universities aren’t online message boards 👀
I always notice a good title because they are very hard to do well, I think. I certainly struggle with them. I’m also intrigued by the collection now!
Jekyll and Hyde, wonderful as Dorian Gray is
The Turn of the Screw 🖤
Lastly Jenny, you seem to be insinuating that there is a problem with young people becoming estranged from their parents.
People only do this for a good reason.
This parent tells you herself her behaviours of stalking and disbelieving her disclosure of assault which is a trauma in itself.
