Idk to me why would I waste skill points on losing slightly less hard when I could invest in higher dps.
If I die from being shit at parrying I can just retry the battle and get good.

Playing e33 again and confused why you can put points into defense when theres a parry and an easier dodge that both completely nullify damage?
I cant fathom why you would build a character around tanking hits in this game.

I should clarify.
We did it unsynced, so my level 100 friend killed everything instantly and we powered through it so we could see the story. I have no clue what any of the actual fights in the raid series are like they all were like 5 seconds long lol.

Nier just has fun characters that I like and that make me smile and laugh. So the tragic horrors that happen to them effect me emotionally. Dark Souls is about being a tiny little person in a big dying world of suffering so running into people you recognize in the wastes is cathartic.

It's so wierd because I can play something like NIER of all things and ge invested. I enjoy Eva knowing how it ends. I love the futility of Dark Souls. So clearly it isnt that dar stories automatically generate apathy from me.

Attack on Titan was like this too. I stopped watcing like 2 seasons in because I realized I didn't like any of the characters and didn't really care if they liberated humanity. Hearing about all of the twists that came later made it worse even.m and made me feel more justified in my choice.

I didnt like The Witcher 3 either because that game's way of trying to make choices feel morally grey was to make every choice a bad one. So I stopped caring. The Bloody Baron quest gets so much praise but to me It was just a waste of my time.

I didnt get swept up in the Game of Thrones hype because every single character sounded like they were differing shades of awful people that drop like flies, so why should I get invested in anything? It all sucks and if it doesnt suck they could just suddenly die.

To me themost important thing is I care.
I need to care about the characters on a personal level. FF12 has all of these complicated political chessmoves happening in the background but none of that matters because if like, Ashe suddenly dropped dead I wouldnt bat an eye. I barely know who she is.

Almost every time I've tried to consume "Mature" media with like, complex geopolitics or a cast of morally grey characters I bounce off of them really hard.
