We punish ourselves for not being better, when in truth, the better self we long for would simply reach out for support and stop the punishment.
“Mamdani reportedly ‘ran into’ a neighbor. Vehicular manslaughter charges pending.”
“Mamdani faces criticism after telling a friend to ‘break a leg.’ Orthopedic community outraged.”

The US has maintained a bipartisan policy of arming and financing a fanatic fascist genocide state that has a known history of targeting and killing journalists with total impunity and has felled something like 160 members of the press since 2023.

There were signs
This is the life of BIPoC civil servants. Leadership sees we won’t toe the line, scrutinizes & pushes us to do literally impossible tasks, then maintains plausible deniability for termination. Everyone left behind— eg the people quoted here— is complicit. Fuck’m all
And a look back at our feature:

WIRED spoke with more than 200 federal workers in dozens of agencies to learn what happened as DOGE tore through their offices.

“For five months we were instructed to bring in our own toilet paper. I literally kept two rolls at my desk. I wish I were joking."

“NO ONE HAS ever been against museums and libraries before. It seems like a really nonpolitical issue…”

At least it’s an even number
I don’t blame him. By pivoting without taking the bait, he restored the moral frame. Klein privileges the optics of calm over the clarity of truth. As an epistemic thinker, Coates is above debating the etiquette of grief. The fallacy is evident without being named
To be quite clear— this infant suffered. That is the nature of whooping cough, and the vaccine was developed in order to protect small children from experiencing severe, prolonged distress and possible death. The vaccine is not for life. Please ask about a booster every 10 years.
"Pregnant women should receive a single dose of Tdap during each pregnancy in the 27th–36th week of pregnancy to help protect their newborns from #pertussis during their first few months of life."

Mississippi has announced a pediatric death due to pertussis.

“Candidates are vetted,” is a bold critique coming from a country where we hold caucuses and primaries, the SCOTUS once chose our president, and our last president chose the party nominee.
Hasan’s brain just cannot process that depoliticized elections exist.
Any reason you’re not posting this fucking insane clip everywhere?

As he explores his identity from multiple perspectives, what roads can Sangram Majumdar travel down and what territory can he explore? These questions are central to his ambitious paintings.
An Indian-American Artist’s Self in Pieces
In his new paintings, Sangram Majumdar seems to be driven by the desire to hold together the different aspects of his dual identity.

Klein fears not winning because he believes that electoral loss is powerlessness.

Coates responds that if you’re at the point of bartering human rights to get to power, winning has become inconsequential.
So Klein cedes outright that truth is not necessary for political wins.

Meanwhile, every historical touchstone that Coates lands on — Jim Crow Dems, the New Deal Coalition, Clinton’s basket — is literally a demonstration of what happens when elections are won by dishonesty. It’s how we got here!
Klein, in summary: If we don’t win, we’ll be powerless.

Coates, in summary: If you barter human rights to get to power, there will be nothing to win. Power will become inconsequential.
Myopia is not a strategy, and frankly, the best of this conversation is, “Was staying silent not an option?”
It absolutely was. In that sense too, Klein loses the plot regarding what it means to be strategic. It was self interest and not strategy to take the position he did.
This was revealing. Worth reading. The basic demand is that Coates spend less time thinking/writing his true feelings and more time playing political strategist. Klein asks him over and over him to do Dem strategy; he says no, over and over. www.nytimes.com/2025/09/28/o...

Imagine valuing political math over moral clarity. Benefit of the doubt: Klein genuinely believes “better messaging“ could have prevented the state of the US despite the historical record. Worst case: Klein is an effigy of survivalist fear that will always keep liberals from doing the right thing
Maybe he did. Teenager writing in her private diary. Eric Adams breaks the door down, “Got you, drug lord!”
If you ever find bullets hidden behind a picture frame, you are 100% in an episode of Scooby-Doo. “Jinkies, Velma, I found a box of 9mm behind this portrait of Grandma!”
I‘d watch him search for drug mule pillows on an HGTV show
His next gig should be to do HR onboarding videos
