More NZers support urban cycleways than oppose them. Plus: an age gap, with older ppl more likely to be against them. Choices today will shape how young ppl move through their cities for decades.

I'm glad someone mentioned yesterday how hideous it was in the office. I packed my portable desk fan today and I am not regretting it.

For the price of less than ONE of National's Roads of National Party Significance you could expand the cycle network right across the motu, returning benefits easily 10x (so $12.8b) of what we have now (which is already formidable at $1.28b).

And more than RoNS will EVER return to Aotearoa 🚲 👇
So cycling tourism particularly in the South Island is worth $1.28b to our national economy. And it will only expand.

NOW IMAGINE boosting cycle tourism even further into our big cities!
Exploring Auckland by e bike would be quite scenic given its very diverse geography!

The RoNS: “the most complex & expensive infrastructure programme in NZ’s recent history.”

A $56B programme… with a $49B shortfall. And all signs point to low-to-no-value for public money.

Given the huge public interest, why are the details being kept from the public, asks @connorsharp.bsky.social?

Wait, what?! Yesterday, it emerged that Auckland Transport plans to re-open Queen St to all night thru-traffic. Boy racers, start your engines!🏎️🏎️🏎️

But why? And who on earth asked for this? Is this Project K all over again?

@connorsharp.bsky.social has the scoop - and a campaign to restore sanity.

Damn bike dramas strike again. Supposed to be at work lunch but something was weird with bike chain. Lovely dude (apparently a mechanic) was walking by and tried to help and we worked out the issue (broken chain link).

So why isn't investment in walkability keeping pace?🚶🚶‍♂️🚶‍♀️

Much fun with airports today. Carry-on got pulled aside in Adelaide because of my power bank and the dude took forever to read the label. Remote gate at AKL so we were bused to the terminal. Then stuck for an age to show our bottle of honey mead because everyone in front of us had boxes of food 😬
