The goal was to create a cohesive set of icons that are bold in shape and style yet still relatable and a little cheeky where possible.
Two rows of the same icons being compared to one another to show before and after differences between the old and the new icons. Icons included in the comparison are home, search, notifications, messages, Like, and people.

Following this launch, we kicked off a new iconographic set to continue the visual evolution based on a core set of principles we developed. ⬇️
Iconography principles Theme: Global It’s important that our icons put people first and are universally understood. We strive to make our icons inclusive for any culture and market. Theme: Straight Forward An icon’s primary purpose is to communicate a concept as clear and directly as possible. Theme: Authentic We’re real, unexpected, and sometimes a little weird. We want our iconography to reflect what makes us unique. Theme: Flexible We constantly evolve our icons to align with technology. We optimize to be scalable in size and retain legibility for multiple uses and scenarios. Theme: Harmony Our icon system is a balanced set of individual symbols that work together as a family. The system can evolve together or individual icons can be modified to ensure they remain relevant and straightforward. Theme: Craft We are precise and intentional in how we create icons. We do this to ensure each icon is following industry standards as well as our highest standards.
