Everyone should read this. Superb distillation of a decades fieldwork on the front line of clean energy transition, following the lithium supply chain from extraction to battery. The promise of clean green growth has been utterly corrupted by finance capital.

they don’t give a shit, they want in on it, they want to make “kushner money”, even dealing with funders of jihadism (qatar), and their voters don’t care either bcz they think all politicians are grafting, they might even *admire* his brazenness and ‘dealmaking,’ believing its for “America”.

i’ve read many ecological economics and climate books and papers over the last twenty years, this is one of the very best.

focusing on lithium, a tremendous achievement in weaving an excruciatingly complex topic - the green transition - into a coherent illuminating narrative.

Listened to Weiss/Ferguson pod it struck me she is similar to Edward Bernays, deeply manipulative. Ferguson is just run of the mill prig powerpoint historian.

Bari Weiss and JD Vance are very similar figures with very similar skills.

Was surprised to see this considering everything you’ve posted about beef, ’free range’ grazing and sequestration…? Or is it simply ‘add trees’ and the whole dynamic shifts?

Deploy Silvopasture
Deploy Silvopasture is a Highly Recommended climate solution. It enhances carbon storage by adding trees to grazing land, including planted pastures and natural rangelands.

or is it both? reading 👇striking analysis of mineral supply chains, so yes, get a heat pump get solar etc in context of our deep relationship with nature because how we manufacture green utilities is as important as incentivizing consumer to switch home energy.

20 yrs back in a mtg with bill mcdonough i remember him telling me about a project to recycle entire cars by driving them into a chemical bath..so it doesn’t feel like we’ve made much progress on this front.

first they promised us flying cars, then recycled cars, and all we got was cups.

my takeaway from c/w was a ‘solutions’ panel featuring polished & peppy midtown corporate CSO from mastercard eulogizing their reusable coffee cup initiative with wait for it *fifty* coffee shops, somewhere in the nordics..1/2

on defunding of medical research, recently chatting with local trump supporter, he used the phrase “political science” as a catchall to legitimise defunding, and then went on a conspiracy ramble about govt research/lymes disease lab leak

Tears in my eyes watching that and replays. As for Pecco, that looks like management intransigence enforcing ‘25 design and sceptical of ‘we had to go thru the journey’ when w/ rider data & ai they can run any number of synthetic tests to compare effects. I guess #93 results caused confirmation bias
