Ashtian Barnes was killed by a Harris County Constable in 2016 during a traffic stop over unpaid tolls. For years, the courts said only the final 2 seconds before the officer pulled the trigger mattered.

That means people who haven’t even been convicted of a crime could lose their jobs, housing, and even their children, simply because they are poor. Worse yet, some Texans could face deportation without due process.

We need a justice system that treats everyone fairly, not one that punishes poverty.
