When ICE agents questioned a group of 11- to 14-year-olds who’d just finished batting practice, their coach, Youman Wilder, stepped in. “I’m willing to die to make sure these kids can get home,” he recounted afterward.
ICE Agents Invade a Manhattan Little League Field
Youman Wilder has coached local kids for twenty-one years—including four who have gone pro. When masked agents tried to interrogate his players, he told them, “You don’t have more rights than they do....

Texans are still recovering from catastrophic flooding. But Abbott is using the special session to criminalize THC and expand the Attorney General's power instead of delivering disaster relief.

Vincent has endured abuse, discrimination, and severely declining mental health. Although South Africa has refused his deportation, ICE continues to detain Vincent, violating constitutional due process protections against indefinite detention.

BREAKING: We have filed a habeas corpus petition for Vincent Jobo, a South African asylum seeker and former professional rugby player who has been held in ICE detention for over a year and a half.

This victory is personal. TCRP alongside Wheeler Trigg O’Donnell LLP submitted an amicus brief in this case, connecting it to the racialized traffic enforcement patterns we exposed in our Safe Passage report. Read our full blog here ⬇️

But, SCOTUS unanimously ruled that context matters. Courts must consider the officer's actions leading up to the use of deadly force, not just the moment of the shooting.

Ashtian Barnes was killed by a Harris County Constable in 2016 during a traffic stop over unpaid tolls. For years, the courts said only the final 2 seconds before the officer pulled the trigger mattered.

The Supreme Court finally struck down a dangerous legal doctrine that has shielded police from accountability for years. This is a huge win for the family of Ashtian Barnes and communities across Texas. 🧵

Let’s be clear: this bill solves nothing and creates more problems. It targets students, naturalized citizens, and working Texans who may not have easy access to those documents.

TCRP believes in a Texas where every eligible voter has the freedom to participate in our democracy without barriers.

Did you know Texas lawmakers are trying to pass a law that would make it harder for Texans to register to vote?

SB 16 and HB 5337 would force people to show a passport or birth certificate just to register — even though non-citizen voting is already illegal.

These bills threaten to jail more people just for being poor, putting jobs, families, and lives at risk. But we can still fight back.

That means people who haven’t even been convicted of a crime could lose their jobs, housing, and even their children, simply because they are poor. Worse yet, some Texans could face deportation without due process.

We need a justice system that treats everyone fairly, not one that punishes poverty.

In Texas, your freedom should never depend on your bank account.

Right now, lawmakers are pushing bills that would expand pretrial incarceration, weaken due process, and strip judges of discretion.
