Thanks for coming to my TED Talk. If you check under your chairs I've left 4 inches of water for everyone to take home today. Some lucky attendees will also find various things I've had to throw away because they got wet and gross. Enjoy the rest of the conference!
If they waste my time and cause me more stress to replace this pipe and then still get 4 inches of water in the basement then they're just all going to have to come out and do it the right way the second time. I REALLY hope whoever they send out in the morning will listen to my request to cap it.
hey tyam we noticed the pipe that is flooding your basement is old so we put a new one in so it can flood it with microplastic instead, hope this is helpful

no its not please get out of my house???
I'd also really like to know for my own sanity if that floor drain branches off to another pipe that is just going to also fail. What's the point of fixing this pipe if there's still a way to get water in? What's the point of replacing the pipe if water can still get in? To do it with a better pipe?
Ideally I'd like the pipe that backflows to be capped and the floor drain pipe elbowed over to the sump pit. It's my house and I don't want 4 inches of gross water in it. That doesn't seem unreasonable? But I guess I will wait and try to convince whoever comes to my house in the morning of this.
They're sending someone out tomorrow morning (no timeframe given) to see what they can do about repairing the pipe. I told the scheduler I wanted it capped, but she said because there's a floor drain they have to replace the pipe segment. I can run to the store and get some cement. What floor drain?
I keep needing to go there
The message they left didn't really explain what needed to be done so they're going to talk to each other about the work and then call me back to schedule. I just want them to come out, shove a camera down all of this pipe, find out where it goes, and then nuke all of it from orbit.
Okay, so super good news? The plumbing company called about an estimate to fix the pipe! The lady said she was confused about the message the basement people left but it seems like the waterproofing company is footing the bill for the sewer line repair. "Call home owner for scheduling, bill [us]."
They found an old pipe! I cannot prove it was damaged during the original install, but the area they dug up originally is twice as wide as the sump pit and would have put that pipe exactly in the way. There was cement dumped on top of the pipe as well, but only in one area directly next to the pit.
Basement wall is cleared, gonna put up some drop cloth tonight so they can come in the morning and not solve the problem
The lady said it was marked as a missed pickup and someone would be around to get it before end of day. She tried to explain something about the pickup system software and tracking the truck and that the route was 20% done but I don't really need that information, I just need my trash picked up?
Genuinely not sure if it was an accident or if this dude is retaliating but he's not been the one picking up the trash for the past several pickups. It's been a different crew until this week, but it sure feels suspicious that he skipped me on his first week back to work or whatever he was doing.
Garbage truck skipped my house, called them while he was 10 feet away to report a missed pickup. The lady I talked to asked if it was my normal driver (it was) and then asked if he had continued to pee in the alley since I called about it last (afaik he has not?). I had talked to her about that!
I can probably get away with a single 45 degree 8 foot cross beam, right? This thing is just gonna hold power ranger toys at the end of the day. This is just so much easier than trying to do a proper full corner to corner....
"If I can CAD it I can build it"

or

"If I can CAD it then I have no one else to blame but myself when it doesn't look like the picture when I build it and then it falls into the hole in the basement"
Ya, I was there lmao

I put the cover back on but I had to use the gross old screws because someone won't let me buy screws without making them cost $80 each
Also I should probably finish adjusting that sensor and put the cover back on it at some point.
There's 2 shelves and a minifridge and 3 or 4 boxes and one tote. Everything else has been moved. If they dig up the basement and go "we can't fix this" then what's my next step, sell the house? In a sales disclosure I only have to put yes or no on the "is there moisture" question not how much
Cleared out a bunch more stuff in the basement, just have to hope it makes it until they come to ~MAYBE~ fix it in a couple weeks.
Apparently I can pay them for an extra month of storage which would get us to the November 5 appeal date but I have a feeling that appeal will be "yeah he's allowed to implement these tariffs why wouldn't he be" and I'd have just wasted money on shelf space.
Yeah this thing is rare enough that I'd be absolutely crushed if it was thrown away but not rare enough that I want to pay a $3000 mystery tax or whatever amount they try to get me to pay. I know Japanese likes to be ambiguous but I need more than a "we think it will make it to you if you pay 🤷‍♂️"
