I used to have a lot of self doubt when it came to making art, I felt the need to punish myself in order to get better. All it did was freeze me with art block and avoidance of a blank canvas, my relationship with art took at least 8 years to mend.

I love art for arts sake, I can get "better"and practice more, but did I have fun in the end or get stressed out because it wasn't perfect?
Artist put too much pressure on themselves to be the best or get "better" when the simple thing do do is to be yourself and have a good time.

I'm celebrating Kwanzaa long distance with my father, he set his Kinara up, I set up mine. We picked a dish my grandmother used to make us and cooked on video call. I also sent him a lil burnt mixtape of grandma's favourite jams ๐ฏ

Art is so important for healing past wounds, it's amazing for the mind which causes a flow that cures the heart.
It's okay to take up space on the page, fill it with your creations. You are an artist make perfect imperfections, express yourself.
