Learn about how multimodal datasets are driving the future of precision oncology in this insightful interview with
@bhaibeka.bsky.social. In particular, AI-enabled virtual biopsies have the potential to transform cancer care.
Their experience demonstrates that these first-time discoveries can be unleashed faster and with more insights through teams that know how to harmonize bench research and AI within a project.

@vsubasri.bsky.social
The functional studies done at the bench confirmed the predictions from machine learning. By bringing bench research and AI together, they made a discovery that would not have been possible with either approach alone.🥼🤖
AI was a key adjunctive component to this work. By performing an over representation analysis of EV cargo using a multi-omic network (integrated using deep learning), a unique set of pathways emerged, enabling focus on endothelial angiogenesis. 🔍💡
This work underscores the importance of the endothelium in governing vulnerable plaque biology and highlights a rationale for strategically modifying endothelial EV cargo to deliver novel therapies in atherosclerosis.
They examined EV origin and communication, uncovering and identifying key endothelial networks that predominate in symptomatic plaques with functional effects that typify vulnerability to rupture (i.e., stroke).
The team assessed extracellular vesicle (EV) cargo from asymptomatic (stable, no stroke) and symptomatic (vulnerable, recent stroke) carotid plaques using adjacent non-plaque regions as controls.
Harnessing AI to transform clinical research with precise and efficient patient-trial matching. #ClinicalTrialsWeek
1/3 It's Clinical Trials Week- an ideal moment to spotlight PMATCH: an AI-powered platform that will help automate the matching of eligible patients to the most suitable clinical trials based on their health data 🧬📊

Briana aims to empower nurses to become AI ready and shape the future of care —because nurses are key to driving the safe and effective use of AI in clinical care.
Her role sees her applying her clinical expertise in a new way: guiding the integration of AI into hospital workflows and ensuring clinical utility. She co-designs AI with nurses, for nurses, and leads efforts to boost AI readiness for all healthcare professionals across UHN.
Briana’s understanding and passion for clinical excellence, ethical research processes and healthcare leadership is what brought her into her current role as a changemaker at the intersection of nursing and tech. 🩺💡🏥
This #NationalNursingWeek, we’re spotlighting Briana, the Clinical Lead for Research and AI at PMCC AI. From bedside nursing in Acute Medicine to clinical research and a Master’s of Health Science in Health Administration, her path blends clinical care, research, and leadership. #NursesInAI
The piece explores economic, political and societal risks - including monopolization, market concentration and shifting control over healthcare’s future.

Stay tuned for Part 2: testing some of the hypothetical risks. 👀
