Thought they had died out so pleased to find a Acanthoxyla inermis stick insect in my garden on bramble. I was told once I had the most northern site in the UK for the species

no luck yet while searching for Brown hairstreak eggs in a spot ive not tried in south Northamptonshire. The habitat looked perfect too. Not giving up hope as its my first search of the season in my county

@bsbibotany.bsky.social #wildflowerhour looks like got Oak leaved goosefoot new for Northamptonshire. It was an odd looking goosefoot in several car parks of one site. There was quite a bit of it aswell

@stevenwright58.bsky.social Found so far two spots for Hummingbird hawk moth caterpillars on either ladys or hedge bedstraw, one site in Northants and one site in Warwickshire so far. All four caterpillars found were the green form.

@bsbibotany.bsky.social Well pleased to stumble on new colony of Mousetail Myosurus minimus the other month while monad recording in Northants. Colony must have been 300 strong in gateways where cattle and farm vehicles churn up the ground. A Northants rare plant register species.

@bsbibotany.bsky.social Some excellent unexpected plant finds while monad recording in recent weeks. First up I got Euphorbia serpens 1st Northants record about 13th record for the UK. Only one plant but one is great to get while waiting for punters for our flora group meeting.

@bsbibotany.bsky.social With all the roadworks on the A43 near Towcester and stuck in traffic then thats a great time to botanise of carefully keeping eye on traffic aswell. Spotted what looks like Sea barley by the A5/A43 junction at Towcester. Never seen the species in Northants before

@brianecambs.bsky.social even other species get trapped in roadside drains in urban areas in the spring aswell as amphibians. Rescued this violet ground beetle recently
