we know what horrors imperialism and colonialism bring. of course this is not a one to one comparison, but the very basic principles of internationalism and solidarity remain the same. the watermelon is a symbol of both Ukr and Palestinian resistance and that to me speaks loudly more than anything.
as an amer of Ukr descent, with family and friends living under the constant threat of russian bombs, it is incredibly important to unite the struggles, to support Palestinians living under the nonstop bombardment by israel. when I see images of Rafah, I see Bucha. I see Olenivka. I see Mariupol.
