it's just good, a lot of horror is bogged down with trying to be metaphorical / evocative of some tone outside itself. I really liked the depiction of magic, it felt very real without being neurotic about explaining its details

my opinion on gameplay loop fundamentalism is it's kind of like thinking about writing only in terms of tropes / beats like hero's journey etc. Useful for an industry that wants to mass produce scripts
