I'm still buzzing after today's launch of #RightsEmpowered - our @together-sacr.bsky.social @clanchildlaw.org project to use the law to further children's human rights.

After a decade of campaigning for #UNCRCScotland, children can now use the law to push for change and secure access to justice

Parental imprisonment is a children's rights issue:

20–27k children affected each year

c60% of people in prison are parents

2/3 of their children don't get visits

1/3 witness their parent’s arrest

Just 5% stay in the family home if mum’s imprisoned

2–3x higher risk of mental health issues

Many areas of children’s lives in Scotland – like immigration and social security – are decided at UK level, where UNCRC rights aren’t as strongly protected.

That’s why we’re backing calls for a duty on UK Ministers and mandatory CRIAs in the Children’s Wellbeing & Schools Bill.
