"Falters"?

What has to happen for the economy to FALTER?

The homeless have to turn into zombies and eat the double and triple gig workers?
umbrarchist.bsky.social
Nope, that tan suit is totally unacceptable!

Can't have that!

🤣😂🤣

His "Art of the Deal" is the Egomania of the Bully.

Americans are supposed to believe his delusions. There is no telling how much bullshit he is going to create for the US military in the long run.

Is this Capitalism?

We never had the mandatory accounting that Adam Smith implied, "read, write and ACCOUNT."

So we need a new name for the stupid consumerism that we have been practicing since the 1950s.

CorpsCon

We are being conned by corporations with planned obsolescence and advertising.

What do economists tell politicians about the NDP?

Have economists lost the NDP in the Cash Flow? #EconSky

Why no mandatory accounting in schools since Sputnik?

Adam Smith wrote "read, write and ACCOUNT" FIVE times in Wealth of Nations. He used the word 'education' EIGHTY Times.

see Alt text:
There is a Gross and there is a Net!
Surprise, surprise!

However something has been missing the Net for decades, which is the point of this discussion.

Long ago Karl Marx used the word 'depreciation' 100+ times in Das Kapital. However he and everyone else spent their lives without automobiles to depreciate. So Marx was writing about the depreciation of Capital Goods. He mentioned "Rolling Stock" a number of times, that is Trains. Locomotives and rail cars wore out and had to be repaired and replaced and this was all part of the cost of doing business.

The First Automobile turned up in Germany two years after Marx died. It was nothing but a rich man's toy but it was the shape of things to come.

The Great Horse Manure Crisis of 1894 came and went for large cities without ceasing to be a Crisis. Horses produce 25 pounds of manure per day and having 100,000 of them in a Great City like New York or London tended to make them not so great.

Henry Ford finally presented the solution in 1908 with his Model-T. In 1912 the number of cars in NY City passed the number of horses. History proceeded without Marx to The Great War that would eventually be demoted to World War I, the Roaring Twenties to be stifled by the Great Depression with lots of hoopla about Economics.

Thus enters John Maynard Keynes and the Gross National Product. It was Domesticated in the 90s becoming GDP instead of GNP. The difference does not matter to this discussion. The Deficit Spending used to fight WWII thereby lifting the US economy from the pits was taken as proof that Keynes was not talking trash. So GDP ruled everyone's thinking.

Consumerism exploded with television in the 50s along with the depreciation that everyone ignored. The Great Acceleration has become the Great Depreciation and experts are still trying to ignore it. I think it is becoming more difficult.

Economists do not say much about Demand Side Depreciation. I have never seen NDP expressed graphically in an Economics textbook.

How did WE get here?

Subject: economics
Location: New Zealand

I've never been there but I know it's an island which I assume doesn't manufacture many automobiles.

I once asked a PhD economist to explain how a gas engine worked. He couldn't even start but he drove a white SUV.

Things break I fix!

What would a table containing the annual $$$ depreciation of automobiles for the 20 richest countries since 1980 look like? There were 200,000,000 motor vehicles in the US in 1995.

When should PhD economists have figured out Planned Obsolescence in automobiles? 1980?

They would have to do algebra correctly: NET Domestic Product.

NDP = GDP - Dcap (official economics version)

Dcap: Depreciation of Capital Goods

But their math is wrong!

NDP = GDP - (Dcap + Dcon) (reality)

Dcon: Depreciation of Durable Consumer Goods

GDP == Grossly Deceptive Propaganda
There were 200,000,000 motor vehicles in the United States in 1995.

How many were owned by consumers and where did the depreciation go?

650+ million since 1950!

Is there a list somewhere of things that are obviously ridiculous about the Trump administration that you would not have even thought possible before 2000?
umbrarchist.bsky.social
I just find it hilarious that the people making the accusation are obviously the ones suffering from it.
umbrarchist.bsky.social
1980, just wondered when it was from.

How would the Planned Obsolescence of imports affect New Zealand economy?

Ask ChatGPT when professional economists should have figured out Planned Obsolescence in automobiles.

Doesn't sanity mean being in touch with what is happening in the Real World? How about 1980?

The US can't recover from this. The videos will be around forever.

What do you bet most of these guys "Love Cars" but cannot figure out Planned Obsolescence.

Economics is SO much Fun!
And economists cannot do Algebra! The Great Depression was not preceded by 70 yrs of Planned Obsolescence in automobiles. No cars during the American Civil War.
